Unfortunately I won't be attending this one. I've got a family gathering to attend early on Sunday so it would be pretty bad if I turned up in my usual post all-nighter mode. Have a good'un and hopefully I'll see you all  in December.

I'm afraid we've had another last minute change forced on us by the 100 Club. They booked a prestigious rock act in late last week without consulting me and expected me to move the all nighter to Friday or another week in November. Yet again my blood ran cold and after a couple of days of persuasion I've managed to negotiate it to be on the same night but the hours will be 12.30-7am. We only lose half an hour but it is a more inconvenient startng time so I will put the price down to a tenner again and when the rush starts at 12.30 we can get everybody in very quickly with no coins to worry about.

For those who meet up in the Blue Posts, remember that shuts at 11pm so the Green Man on Berwick Street may be better with last orders at 12, it's 2 minutes from the club but you shouldn't have too long to wait to get down the stairs.

Many apologies, it was mainly down to an inexperienced booker who didn't realise the importance of the nighters, particularly for the long distance travelers who pre-book trains and hotels. It won't happen again.

Ady

PS The flyer times are obviously incorrect now.

Ha ha, typical that the one I am coming down to is the one that goes a bit nuts, still should give Virgin trains a chance to run late and still get me there on time.....

I'll be there

Looking forward to a great night, tried to change my flight back home on Sunday to a later one, but every single seat on every single flight is now full, must be something to do with it being half term.

So must make the most having a chat with eveyone in the Blue posts beforehand as I am going to have to leave at 6.00 or I will miss me plane.. :g:

The joys of running a allnighter in fancy london town ....are the rock band still playing as i was hoping there would be some headbangers who would create a light dusting of dandruff on the dance floor which would make it easier for the dancers ???

Back in the real world i'm hoping to make it and enjoy listening ,and maybe dancing to some great records and talking nonsense about them, as it's been a long time since i've come along to the 100 club.

Remind me, do i just turn left when leavig Dorset and head north to i come across that small little village with 10 houses and one pub called LONDON ??

So, with U2 dispatched to The O2 and the tribute act Alvin Starburst still in mourning, normality is restored.

Heading sarf soon, Blue Posts it is then.

Well, what a cracking night that was....some of the best soul music i have heard at a Nighter in recent times, Andy Dyson was the special guest & played two top notch sets, full dance floor throughout & a real mix of quality Rare Soul, my expectations were high & Andy exceeded them in every way.

I thought both Butch's sets were fantastic, lots of new to me things that were all blinding & had me up & dancing from the get go....Keith Money was class as ever & thought the Trinikas sounded brilliant out loud !.

The guvnor held it all together nicely with a mix of the old & new, the 100 Club must be the only Allnighter that creates its own oldies, many of which would be unknown to the wider scene anyway....the 100 Club is my fave Nighter ever, I always have a brilliant night there, but last night was special for me, I haven't been for a while due to work & the edge is definitely back....no resting on nostalgic laurels, this was a cutting edge Nighter & the atmosphere on the dance floor was one of excitement & expectation, a heady mix.

Great to see lots of old friends & lots of new faces to me too....dance floor was still full at 6am, as the final record played us out...& Im pleased to report the 100 Club is right up there with the best ever & still setting the standard.

Still buzzing....

Best Russ

My first nighter of the year and I Had a brilliant night and lasted to 4am with aching legs this morning and as Russ says the 100 Club is the best and so much new to my ears tuneage last night was so refreshing.  Was great to see so many great friends and thanks for all the kind words and support over my tough year but I'm back and last night was just what I needed.  Totally fooked now though lol.

Best part of the night was having a good old chin wag with Billy and he says to me "have you had your oil change done" let's just say we laughed for a while lol.

Thanks Ady and all the djs for a brilliant night and to Smithers for the company there and back even though the lazy get slept all the way back lol

See you again down them steps sometime soon.

I'm struggling to remember my own name at the moment David, but I'll try & remember any of the new to me things Butch played later...but he obviously played the Chuck Jackson stormer, United Sounds & Living Colour...Willie Tee 'Dues', also Superbs - Wind in my Sails'....I'm sure some of the others will come back to me over the next few days....did he play the Vessie Simmons cover up or did I dream that ?....

Will try and remember a list tomorrow Dave. The one that gave me the biggest buzz was Marva Josie 'Don't'. It kept the dance floor full at 5.50 and sounded magnificent. It was an honour to play it to such a receptive bunch of soul fans

Joel texted in the morning. His work had a Tampax emergency; they had to get an ad or summat done and made him work all weekend

Really enjoyable night.....name that tune time...Butch's first set, maybe the Charms - Walking back to you.? I did ask him but  memory like a goldfish......Bobby Hutton  - Lend a hand, bought a lump to my throat.......40 years to the weekend since my first Wigan nighter, with time off for bad behaviour  ....not a bad way to spend it....

See you at the xmas bash....

Great night down the smoke.  Excellent crowd, great sets from all the jocks keeping the floor busy all night.  Nice to meet friends I don't see too often these days and some new ones as well. Good to see Sean Adams out and about as well. Still a great club for Rare Soul.

Bearsy, good to see you back and in good health even if the treatment hasn't done much for your mental stability.  I was equally rough as the proverbial badger's whatsit on Sunday.

What was that evil stuff we were drinking ?  Giving it a wide swerve in future anyway.  Can't see that muck catching on anywhere...... :( It tasted like Hercules' fermented spit.

Certainly enjoyed both the journey and the 100 club , music was sound as a pound through out - Butch as always gives every one a lesson on how it should be done. London certainly has the widest assortment of characters  bar none  both inside and outside the club. I didn't take many oldies and only played the odd few - when i stuck Earl Jackson - S.S.S  on the 100 club seems to inject it's custom made atmosphere that only it can do and enhanced the record 20 fold ! A true soul experience !
