In previous months I have listed the sets played so if you want to know what to expect for my hour have a quick look at earlier months. I will endeavour to play classic Casino dancers some of which dont seem to get much time on the decks these days but they are quality tunes.  If you have any requests please let me know; if I have them in my collection I will try to play them for you.

This month I played Harvey Scales - Too good to be true and Fred Hughes - I keep tryin

Last month Shirley Matthews - my sugar baby, Loretta Williams - baby cakes and Bessie Jones - no more tears

In terms of Casino numbers I like to play uptempo tunes including; Intruders - Check yourself, Bobby treetop wait til I get to know ya, Jeanette Williams - all of a sudden and Little Joe Roman - when you're lonesome.

Have a quick look at Monaco comments for previous months for the full sets.

If I get the opportunity I would like to spin James Carr - A losing game, Pitfall by Ronnie Savoy, Down in the subway by Jack Hammer and Wrapped in a dream by Lou Lawton; If I'm lucky I might get a couple of them into my set. The dancefloor dictates the tunes played (it's painful to see the dancefloor empty), I understand Bob and Dave like the DJ's to satisfy the customers needs. All requests are welcome and if the DJ's have them I'm sure they will try and give them a spin, early requests on soulsource offers the DJ's an opportunity to dig out forgotten favourites.

Well thanks for the reply not sure that some are as underplayed as you seem to think.Sometimes its better to do a bit more attending and collecting before the dj career, just an opinion of course. But the monaco is one of the most successful oldies only nites in the uk and bobs a top guy,the regulars know what they like and always have a goodtime. So will be interestin to see how it goes atb.

Might be worth bunging the local St Johns Ambulance a few free tickets as they might be busy if the locals try and dance to Ronnie Savoy....

I'm not a professional DJ or a collector of original 1st issue vinyl; when I'm behind the decks I do as I'm told by Bob -'play numbers that people enjoy dancing to'. I have about 4000 7" northern soul records in my collection, therefore, I have a little latitude when it comes to changing my box; your opinion does matter so if you have a request and I can accommodate you I'm happy to do so.

I have supported the Monaco soul club for many years ( a top venue run by a top chappie); in addition the missus and I attend various NS events every Friday and Saturday and in the last 5 years I can't remember hearing Ronnie Savoy tune played at a mainstream venue, can you? Perhaps the tune is a little quick and we are not getting any younger (lol). Hopefully I will see you on Saturday.

Only heard that Ronnie Savoy once or twice in the last 10 years, think the last time was at the old Trentham Garden niters (anyone remember them?).

It's a shame that so many fantastic tracks from Station Rd rarely see a set of decks these days, mention the Casino and out comes the usual MVP's and Holly St James tracks to be murdered over and over again.

What about Do what you wanna do - Dee Dee Barnes for the 100mph track. Get him of my Conscience - The Lovelites for the Stomper. Soul Step - The Dogs for the Instro. And the fantastic Joey Heatherton for that white/garage type dancer from Wigan?.

Another blistering package of music delivered at this "never fails to hit the spot" venue. Bob Brierley is to be applauded for his ability to consistently deliver an outstanding soul night. Thanks to him and all the DJs for kicking off the festive season in an explosion of Xmas soul sparkle.
