This event is now over. Look up now to read the latest reviews of this soul event

Think I'll be attending this Niter in Notts, I was in Rob Smith's shop yesterday, talking to a couple of locals, seems like there is a lot of interest in this event. not quite sure where in Nottingham it is, been told it's about a mile or so from the city centre, in the Lenton area ? Any Nottingham Souls who will be going, where are you going for a few jars before the event ?

Pubs in this area are few & far between ,try city center 'coach & horses' or 'dog & partride' both play soul/northern satdi nites & can get pretty lively.taxi takes ten mins to venue .

Buzz is building about Marcus Garveys allnighter up and down the country.. As you can see the venue is second to non!! But obviously that would count for nothing to us if the records played were not up to scratch!! We are not here to treat Soulies like they only know 500 tunes!! We are here to play 'In Your Face' 'Hairs On The Back Of Your Neck' Upfront Northern Soul, R'n'B, Funk with a passion and a uptempo dance beat Allnight. As it says on the tin, a fresh Large-Scale allnighter that will have something to say in 2014 and beyond!!!!

Only a few weeks now to this new all nighter ...  superb sounds by top dj's , playing  OVO in a dream of a venue ...  this place is awsome , the sound test was spot on , the floor is brilliant , easy to find and on site parking ..  just as it should be  :)

See you tonight, John, Emily and Pete.

Might be a bit late in getting there but I will most certainly be coming.

And you bet I am looking forward to it!

(John/Emily - you know me from the Irish niters and the lift to Ibstock, Pete - you and I were often next to each other on the floor at the Shed, Beeston, all those years ago!).

Car park attached to venue if memory serves me right ,beware side streets as there are a lot permit only areas due to the large number of student dwellers .

Cracking night - absolutely superb.

All DJ's on top form, and others might disagree but to me the venue is nigh on perfect.

Will there be a follow-on event? Hope so ...

Take care

Come on, don't hide comments just because they are honest, but brutally and cynically correct about certain aspects of the Rare Soul Scene !

Had to leave at half four, just as it was picking up. Think that some of the djs before that were just playing records from their collections to impress family and friends. Heard 2 or 3 good records I've never heard before and 40 or 50 I don't want to hear again ! Atmosphere great though and some lovely people. On the plus side Mark Freeman Stacy Stewart and Ted Massey( before we left) were very good. Think the best djs should be on at primetime not left till the end. ... Just a thought !

Honest balanced critique......... Overall it was a fantastic night, and enjoyed by the majority. Great venue, hope there are future ones, sound system, after a few teething problems early doors, sorted.  During Mick H's spot the dance floor was banging.  The young D'j's have their own music which isn't my cup of tea, but they do bring an energy to the scene that is badly needed, so no complaints here. Stacy Stewart, for a young D.J played a spot like she'd been behind the decks for years, balancing familiar sounds with newer tracks, excellent spot.  Look forward to the next one.

The younger promoters djs and dancers brought much needed energy enthusiasm and coolness to this nighter IMO. Do we really need kings hall part two!!! I participate in both scenes i like my upfront and rare and but i still love my oldies and i thought the old hands :)    ted and mick h balanced the music policy up it was banging on that dance floor saturday.

The sound system was a little distorted near the bar area thats my only gripe..... overall  a really enjoyable night will go again and i highly  recommend this nighter
