Groovin' @ Grundy's Details

Well, it's been a while, but now we're back for some more soulful, ear and foot refreshment at Grundy's Tavern in Derby and this time we've got MARK STEADMAN as our guest. Mark's a local lad and has been collecting those little black round things, that we all love ... and wished we had more of, for years.

For those that know him, you know he has fantastic taste and is certain to play some stuff that will have me running up to the decks, uttering those familiar words ... "Dear Sir, please be so kind as to tell me the provenance of this particular song" ..... or something like that anyway!

Anyway, the first one with Shaun McPhail, in September was well received and I hope that this one will be too.

GROOVIN' @ GRUNDY'S ........ FREE ADMISSION

Sunday January 19th 2014 from about 12.30 / 1.00 pm 'ish until 7.30 / 8.00 pm 'ish.

Music policy will be all things soulful .... provided by our guest Mark Steadman and ably supported by Rob Kay, Chris Anderton, Dave Lucas.... and yours truly.

Music policy will be all things soulful, with a little bit of everything ..... but not too much of any one thing .... at any one time!

So, we'd like you to join us for some soulful ear and foot refreshment in the very comfortable surroundings of Mr Grundy's ..... which happens to have it's own brewery on-site .... chef-prepared Sunday Lunch is available between 12-4.00pm but you may have to book ....having said that .... there's baguettes, chips and a range of other foods available too.

If you've never been to Mr Grundys .... check out this link ... http://www.georgianhousehotel.info/ or just Google "Mr Grundy's"It all kicks off between 12.00 & 1.00pm and runs through to 8.00pm 'ish.

Hope to see some of you there.

Kev

Oops just seen the Map imagery ..... please ignore ..... it's showing Pride Park, just off the A52,east of Derby and not MR Grundy's - sorry.

The correct address is Mr Grundy's Tavern, Ashbourne Road, Derby. DE22 3AD. It's on the westbound A52 about half a mile or so out of the city centre.

The link in the ad above shows the correct location or you could whizz back to last years do - Sept 8th 2013 - that shows the correct map location.

Cheers,

Kev

Me again ..... I've sorted the 'Map Location' and it's now showing the right location ... phew. The ruddy great white lorry is obscuring the entrance to the car park! As I said above, there's a better "view" attached to last years event. The Blockbusters store is now a Morrisons Local.

Cheers,

Kev

Nice one Kev - enjoyed the last one immensely and as it's yet another birthday for me on the 22nd I'll try and get a few of the usual suspects to come along and swell the numbers (and probably the bar takings) !

Hi Guys,

Just in case anybody from north or west of Derby is thinking of paying us a visit ..... here's a bit of 'travel news' for ya!

There's ongoing roadworks on the A38 as it skirts round Derby at it's junction with the A52, Ashbourne Road (Markeaton Island / McDonalds) and at Little Eaton island (Starbucks) where the A38 meets the A61, north of Derby ....although, I guess on a Sunday neither of these will too bad......I hope!

However! ....... there's re-surfacing works taking place on the A52, from it's junction with the M1 at Junction 25 and then westbound towards Derby until it reaches "Borrowash" on the outskirts of Derby. The local paper reports that this stretch of the A52 will be completely closed at weekends, from c.8.00pm on Friday night through to 06.00 on the Monday morning up to Mon 10th Feb. The diversion will send you down the M1 to J24A and then along the A50 / A6 to join back up with the A52 about a mile out of Derby. There's no problem with travel out of Derby towards M1 / Nottingham ...anyway, I think this all kicks off this coming Monday ... so, beware!!

Right, I'm all 'trafficed out', so I'n gonna go .... see you at Grundy's

Take care,

Kev

Dave, .... it was more likely the red wine that accompanied tea! Made us both smile, though.

Hope you're both ok - see you in the not too distant future, perhaps?

Hiya Dave and Louise

Hope you're both well

Don't believe him about the wine.......he's too embarrassed to admit that the string from his mittens got tangled and the left one was in his right sleeve!! :-)
