Why did Keith Fletcher not name the guest DJ's that are on ROMAN and SHAUN FITTON on sunday night radio show on radio Lancashire ?  Its not because of politics is it ?

Been meaning to get back to this friendly venue, but so many great venues on same night you can't get to them all, be nice to have a chat with Froggy ( still need to get some of those laminated beer glass covers you had ) and see my (old) mates Roman and Mr Fitton lol

Hi Froggy,I try not to miss your do mate,Kenny and I will nip in on our way to work.I hope people don't bring there politics with them, that's all you need? Always a great Preston crowd at a great venue, with a cheap bar, and of course our great SOUL MUSIC. Well done mate. Rod Clegg. Ps HI to my good mate JULIAN BENTLEY THE EX BANKER with his money invested in rare soul vinyl.

Politics? Is that the male equivalent of being "catty" or is it a prelude to a DJ election? I'm voting for the DJ whose Manifesto is on original vinyl.

MANIFESTO- A CASE OF TYME A big play in the scene in 74-75, A record you ether love or hate, not really a soul record but was huge at the time, has the same type of impact as say PURPLE HAZE-JOHNNY JONES &THE KING CASUALS. Manifesto was booted three times, don't know why? It must have been for demand by pill Heads, Not a rare record but played a part in the Strange world of northern soul. Just do it. Rod

Well thank you for that passionate and knowledgeable outburst. Personally, I hate the track I just included it in my thread because of its political connotations (Manifesto) rather than an example of a taste in music. Still, I feel truly enlightened. The world of northern soul is indeed, strange. Do you think that track would fill a floor? Or empty it? Answers on a postcard. What's all this talk about politics? I never quite understood it on the northern scene. Do we have warring factions amongst our beloved DJs? And if so, why?

Flaming emeralds, knowledgeable-no just read a lot'. Passionate-well I do love our soul music, Outburst- I don't think so, just points of view, as for politics in soul music- I think that you answered you own question. Oh and I didn't mention it first, bit further up.See you Friday. Rod. Ps I knew exactly what you meant with your Manifesto post it was very clever.

Okay, I concede, not quite an outburst, maybe a colourful retort? Is that better? I'm upset to hear there are hostile rumblings in the DJ ranks. I can't imagine what can cause that and as I'm just a punter I'd probably be better dancing in blissful ignorance! But if there's going to be a war, I'm going to build an Anderson Brothers shelter........ Yeah, I know. There's no hope for me. Catch you later....Rodders!

Retort! Witty that's me; that's a lot better, punters we all our and Greenlands is a great place to come and dance and meet likewise people who have a passion for Northern Soul. It's the music that count! Not egos. Have a great night.

Rod.

Fantastic night!! - TOP tunes played by Roman and Shaun Fitton - also nice to hear genuine dj's play their sets on original vinyl - love the music policy at Greenlands too - right across the board!

Fave track of the night was played by Derek Smith - "Jobell & The Orchestra De Salsa - Never gonna let you go" - not heard it played out anywhere in years!  :-)
