Had a superb time last night at Taste of Honey , what a blast ! both Nige and I absolutely loved playing for the guys that came to hear anything from the collections of like minded players just having a sort of Jam session playing records that they had tenderly selected to share with those willing to listen or like me spontaneously picked out of the box.

When we arrived I must admit we were a bit jaded /tired from doing the Kings Hall the previous night, however the feeling of being able to express yourself totally really did carry us both with a charge of energy that helped us to forget the aching feet and limbs from the night before.

I loved all the sets played everyone did a fantastic job of giving us the whole selection box last night. I was particularly impressed with a young Dj that I hadn't seen before called Ste Morrissey , he very much reminded of another young player I know called Rob Shone, his play and style reflected a talent for playing variation of sound and tempo mixed with superb taste in soul, something that most collectors take many years to master sampling lots of sounds , however he had an ability to pick a spine chilling tune at what appears to me a young age.

You know anyone can stick something fast on the decks , the ability to be brave and select a slower tune and it being a fabulously fresh tune normally takes years of experience and sampling to deliver. Many of us that started out have felt like we have taken different paths in the journey to get us where we are today,an open mind didn't come instantaneously did it ? However its pleasing to see a few younger collectors have made that jump very quickly

I am sure in time both these collectors as soul enthusiasts will become well known for their foresight of play. Having complimented Steve for his selection and talking to him further it all became clear , he had parents and friends that had cultivated and inspired his interest from an early age, and did it show , his Mum and lets say uncle Micky must be very proud of him.

Big thanks and big luv for Bearsoul's taste in honey :)

I do wish we in Manchester all the little clubs could just get together and one night midweek maybe once a month and just "play jam" not charge anyone anything to get in , and not receive any payment , just share the vibe and enjoy the process of sharing your soul because last last night proved to me that their is nothing like sharing the soul , and it could be done because Manchester and the outer city limits has many collectors old and new that could bring lots to the table and this would be so good for the future , it is really very inspiring. Big thanks to Chris Morgan for the invite and to the other players that gave us such a thrilling night .
