This event is now over. Look up now to read the latest reviews of this soul event

This venue was booked for months to come and in order to keep it as a soul night for people who love soul we had to honour the bookings. One of the reasons perhaps that the numbers reduced in recent times was because of the night it was on in the month. At the first opportunity we will be moving the night in the month as well as other changes in the music spread and ambience etc... We are going to address all that!. It has to be said though that there are a lot of soul events and no event will ever be exclusive, However not everybody can travel great distances for whatever reason and we hope to satisfy local people and attract other people who like our music and enjoy meeting our regulars, and hopefully in time will become regulars themselves.......

Hiya, just noticed this, where are you and what kind of music do you play?

Hi Susan, I will assume you know Nottingham a bit. If you head up mansfield road leaving the city, you will see the 'cemetry' and going down the hill where the 'fair' ground is on the left. keep to your right at the island and you will pass Clarendon College on your left. At the Y shaped junction bare left onto Hucknall Road, about 6 roads up on the left you will see Claremont Primary School. Turn left in there and we are in a big walled car park with a Blue illuminated sign on the wall.

If you went wrong at the island and went up Nottingham road, at the top of the hill is Claremont road on your right. As for the music we will be playing Northern/Soul classics, including floor fillers and some past favourites not regularly played and some underplayed including Motown...all dancers....hope you give us a try....we aim to please..

Had a lovely chat with Mal on Saturday night and he wishes us the best of luck with our new night. Just a point out, we are not smack dab in the city centre so no worries about bad behaviour from people who are well 'oiled' and just don't want to go home. We are a little bit up the hill from the famous 'Goose Fair' site. Great walled of carpark, great dancing music, great priced drinks, and nice local people have said they are coming....come and join us!

Had a nice chat with Mal on Saturday night and he is looking forward to his free weekends and the continuance of his other events. So hopefully nobody should feel disloyal by giving us a try on Saturday...Hope to meet you there.

Thanks for the directions. Not far from the fair ground helps a lot. Was told on Saturday night at another venue not to go to you. I will go where I want and not be dictated to. It should be about the music and meeting like minded people. We are coming so prove the vested interest people wrong.

A yup Dave. a number of people have asked me the same thing. We haven't arranged an official photographer so we are not anticipating a big spread of photo's online. It seems some people are not happy at being splashed all over the internet. There are people coming who have small personal camera's and of course phone's. If you've got a camera that's not in everybody's face all night and is not like a welding flash, that should be absolutely fine Dave. You know me I am an approachable bloke ( I hope ). Just don't get caught out on the A453. Hope to see you both again Sir

Gee Wizz Dekka, Thanks for you're good wishes for our central Nottingham club. So many people have said they want this event to take hold. This is a venue that should not be allowed to whither for the peeps that cannot travel. With a fresh approach we hope to put her back on the 'must go to list'.

Just a little flavour of our night, a few of the tracks I intend to play tomorrow night....

1. If its all the same to you babe.Luther Ingram. The Theme apparently to the new Northern Soul Film.

2. It really hurts me girl. The Carstairs. My brothers favourite

3. Everybody's Goin' to the Lovein. Bob Brady. Try not dancing to that!

4. All turned on. San Remo Strings. Never hear it, why?

5. You're gonna make me love you. Sandi Sheldon. A dancers fave

6. Baby what I mean. The Drifters. What the word classic really means etc...

might play. I can't help loving you. Paul Anka if Kev's missis comes, as I know she loves it.

etc...

Hope this lets you make you're mind up to give us a try.

Apologies for my late update but I didn't get home till 12.30 this afternoon. Just crashed out after that. Total number of people there including friendly mixing bar staff and Dj and partners for the first night 85 people. Don't want to be like some venue's and say a 'packer' 'full floor' all night etc. etc. because I have been to some of those and there's been very few there and its been a disappointment especially if you have traveled a long way. Our venue is not that big so this number was quite nice, room to dance and nice to socialize. A lady I see out standing on the side of the floor waiting for certain records at other venue's, actually said she enjoyed last night which bowled me over.

To us this venue is as important to Nottingham as the Wheel and the Casino was and people should give us a visit and help it grow to be what it could be so we can all enjoy it. People said they liked the changes and would be telling their friends which is a huge compliment. Thank you to everybody that came and lets do it all again next month. A massive announcement on our next night is coming. Keep an eye out!.

Thanks for the lovely feedback ladies/gents ?. we let one person down who wanted a particular record, but there are potentially so many. If you've ever picked up a box of records you know its impossible to have all that have been made and if you had them all you couldn't pick them up and carry them.
