Anymore record dealers wishing to reserve a table shout up.  Feedback for the night has been really positive so space could be at a premium.

Both rooms have their own entrance from the car park (entrance doors are next to each other)...... so admission can be paid at either entrance and then purchased wristband will then permit admission into both rooms.

A top line-up of DJs playing the best music that either scene has to offer....all for a tenner!

This Saturday folks....looks like there is gonna be very healthy support for both rooms.......reckon a few folk will also be flitting back and forth between rooms to get a taste of everything on offer!

Don't forget, the Pow Wow room opens an hour later than Lifeline in the main room, but if you turn up early you can pay into main room and go into either room as and when.......probably a good idea if you are attending for the Pow Wow Club but also want to check out any sales boxes in main room...

After rather a horrible week I was hoping that Lifeline would raise my spirits, and it did.

I'd never been to Bidds before, and some of the comments I'd heard about it were derogatory. However since its refurbishment it seems a good home for Lifeline; a working man's / social club, with a good dance floor, ideal for a Northern Soul nighter. And the sound was okay too.

I must thank Danny who picked me up at Wellingborough station (and of course John McClure who arranged it). After picking up Terry and Jan we sped up to Stoke and Bidds.

The night seemed to fly by, which some nighters don't. The music was of a high quality, a good mix with medium tempo tunes interspersed with the fast ones. Sadly Soul Sam was unwell and Butch couldn't make it, but the two guests, Joel Maslin and Matt Sneath were worthy stand ins. I think of the latter's set I only knew one record, it would be nice to see a playlist. They kept the dance floor busy, and it was busy for nearly all the night.

The regulars, Chalky, Andy Dyson, Cliff Steele and Mick H did the business as usual, thank to Mick for playing Pee Wee, Shucks & Huey, one of my favourites. And plenty of them were included in the sets, got me out dancing. I couldn't dance as much as I'd have liked to but as the saying goes the spirit is willing but the flesh is weak.

It was a great idea to combine the night with the Pow Wow Club. I went in there a couple of times and enjoyed the music very much. Pity you can't split yourself in two to be in both rooms at once.

As usual the social side of the night was very good. Nice to see friends from all over the country, all united by a love of good soul music.

Looks like Lifeline found another good home, thanks to Andy, Mick et al, and the staff of Bidds.

looks like it was a brill nighter as it was always on the cards to be .. we intended to do two nighters  on this night .. (and an all dayer lol)  .. but time and traveling , and the fact that the other all nighter was brilliant too just ran away with the time available  .. glad it was  a super night for all concerned , and hope the new "Bidds" looks smart :)

Future dates for 2014 will be as per Lifelines normal annual dates as already showing on allnighter callender.

June 28th

Aug 30th

Oct 25th

Many thanks to both Lifeline and Pow Wow Clubs to agreeing to this event.....certainly seemed to tick all the right boxes for everyone concerned.

Next one will see an added bonus in the second room......The Pow Wow will be joining forces with The King Bee R&B Club, bringing together 2 of Sheffields finest R&B clubs for a one off night of killer tunes.

I'm sure the Lifeline boys will post some info regards guest DJs for June 28th.

Thanks to everyone who turned out to to support this event, especially the old Bidds faithful who have patiently waited for this club to start hosting proper nighters again.

Also thanks to the ladies for such efficient running of 2 doors, and Vinny for supplying a top sound system in the main room....Mick H said his Goldmine 7s never sounded so good ;o).

Regards

Mace

Thanks to all who attended the first Allnighter for the for the dynamic duo of soul clubs, Lifeline and Pow Wow at Bidds/Sutherland Road CP. Looks like it is the beginning of a beautiful relationship . I'm sure Mace will speak on behalf of Pow Wow but Lifelines guest really stepped up to the mark. Joel did exactly as I had expected and played two great of upfront soul, mixing up the styles and a busy dancefloor showed their appreciation. Matt also mad his debut behind lifelines decks and nailed it, despite being extremely nervous . The influx of dancers from the closing Pow Wow room hit the floor and lapped up what Matt had to offer. All the residents played their part in keeping the floor busy all night and we thankfully moved away from what was becoming a dependancy on oldies at the Stables and got back to what Lifelines philosophy is all about.

A big thanks to Basement Boogaloo Mace for all his hard work and help and cooperation in making the night a successful one for both clubs. But a big thank you all those who paid to come and dance, tap your feet or stroke your chins.

We would also like to send our best wishes to Sam who wasn't up to playing out last night due to his treatment but hopefully he will be back by the summer.

Next Allnighter is June 28th, same formula, one venue, two top clubs in two rooms.
Lifelines guest DJ's are Kitch and Adam Topping.

Many thanks to Mick, Andy and Chalky for inviting me up, like Matt was pretty nervous about delivering the goods at one of the countries most progressive and respected nighters but after managing to bugger up my intro chit chat on the mic just about held it together. Crowd were great, and really enjoyed Callum's set in the Pow Wow, (Keith Curtiss etc) and also caught some of Mik's set which contained a whole bunch of obscure proper r&b that was new to me.

I thought Matt's set in the Lifeline room was excellent as well, like Geoff didn't know the majority but they were all cracking dancers and he had the floor full the whole way through.

Was great to catch up with Mandy, Ian, Fudge and thanks to the London posse (James P, Ben, Hailey etc) for coming up as well! Cheers to all concerned. Hope Lifeline has a long future at Bidd's.

I think I'm starting to find my mojo again.

I'm loving the new funk edge stuff we play but it was great to immerse myself in some dark and dirty R&B on Saturday.

Got ourselves based in the Pow Wow room and ended staying in there most of the night

Great new room with a low ceiling that had the hours flashing by.

Loads of great tunes from DJ's that looked like they were engaged with and bouncing off the dancers and loving it.

Great set up with the decks so close to the dance floor, that created a vibe from DJ to dancer and back again.

Many thanks to all involved.

Returned to my old stomping ground at Bidds...brought best mate Dave with me who had not been before and we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves...great second room ..stayed in there most of the time I was there and was not in the least disappointed...The Captions  ...Turn off the Lights (very soulful I must say) and Perry and the Harmonics.....Do the Monkey with James were highlights for me.

Dave ,a very knowledgeable guy musically, now well up for it

Met up with some old friends Ezzie and Rowena to mention but two.

Looking forward to next one in June.

Well done to all DJS and to Mace et al for the set-up.

Hello Gorden, I cant remember if we have ever met but your comment is a breath of fresh air to the scene as it is today,

There is an obviously split between, Oldies vs Newies, Rare vs Common, RnB vs Early soul  (do i need to go on) This was one of the best nites i've been thats (one of the best) And i will return if you continue both rooms but i lean towards RnB nowadays or midtempo as i'm gettin to old to dance.

This nite was awsome.

And to the promoters DONT YOU DARE GIVE UP OR I WILL DIE (Please ignore if yo you dont know me)
