Evening folks.

We hope it's ok but we are going to have to stop doing cheap entry guest list.

We've always got enough to pay the guest spinners and cover the costs of the night, but we'd also like to build up a pot to buy stuff for the club, and give a few more quid to our guests who've travelled a long way to spin for us... and you.

That ok folks?

Cheers

Gary

Gary,Eddie & that young-ish ginger haired lad who plays those Abba demo's.....Rich that's it.

Well if you was going to celebrate an anniversary I suppose that's more or less the perfect way to do it?

Get a room full of the weird & wonderful from the soul scene throw a shed load of quality up tempo dancer from all genres at them & see what happens.......well what happens is you get a night that was full on from start to finish,I wouldn't expect any other because that's the Empties way.Well done boys I look forward to many more in the future :hatsoff2:

As Dave on the Drivin Beat thread has ushered in the new era of none backslapping, say it as it is sort of comment & I saw how well that went :wicked:  I too would like to make slight comment of disension about last night? It may be something that has already been dealt with? But the sound where we stood wasn't as good as usual, was the speakers in different positions? Is it I'm getting deafer in my old age ?I know we stand in the worst place & we could move to a better vantage point.......but have you seen that lot who sit on the window ledge,a right motley bunch :wicked:.Maybe it was my ears way of saving me pounds as I was stood next Del Boy Hiscock & he was trying to tell me that the Gracie Fields 78's he had for sale are going to be the next big thing & I should be selling a kidney(now come on who'd want one of my kidneys) to buy them all off him.Certainly didn't detract from the night & I suppose it worked in my favour when Eddie was on

Once again boys well done,it was a cracker

Cheers

Martyn & Lynn

There were a few teething issues over the new mixer and the levels it felt comfortable at before giving way to some sound distortion. This probably caused some caution and made it a little quieter than usual.

What a night.

Huge thanks to everyone who comes along to our do's.

Adam, Neil and Atomic nailed it for me. Three great guest spots that brought three different flavours of dancefloor up-tempo. Delivered like a sledgehammer. Thanks gents!

Great to see a mix of new faces in amongst the Empty Bottle Full-timers. Going forward though, I will be looking into membership cards. Not because we want to exclude anyone, far from it, just to we can assert some sort of control over people who wander in and insist on taking drinks on the floor.

Often it affects the vibe, quite noticably, and disrupts the dancers already on the floor.

We'd welcome your opinions and ideas on that point. Be great to hear how other club nights have worked it out.

The new mixer was sound-checked on full throttle early doors, and one or two folk coomented on how clear the music was in the dancefloor area.

The sound problems creep in when the levels are pushed too high, coupled with upping the gain. Instead of using the master volume. The PA is massive and is capable of going rediculously loud, so in theory, when its set up correctly there'll be no distortion. Each DJ usually tweaks things to suit themselves, so even though weve set it up right at 8pm it gets a bit out of kilter. I will keep an eye on that from now on.

The speakers may well have been moved Martin, and I noticed a difference in Wrinklies Corner as well. Again, I will keep an eye on it.

Thank you all for making it great!

Rich, Eddie and me x

First time at empty bottles for us and the music played on the night was the best we've heard this year and all of last year any where every dj nailed it and didn't hear a bad record all night, BANGING TUNES.

Can't do a quote on iphone, so in direct response to Monsieur dog.......

It defo won't be the mixer mate. A better mixer (which Gary's bought) allows greater control of mid and high end bass levels, which is imperative with the vinyl we all Dj with. The sound variations aren't just from 45 vs LP, there's loads of sound pressing variations amongst the 45's e.g muffled private press record needs more umff compared to something in day Arctic label that need nothing (toning down if anything).

DJ's should know their records and listen to the sound around them. I agree with Gary 100% about if being difficult to keep tabs on. There was a bit of revurb which suggests the gains were too high, and if there's more to give in the master as Gary suggests, take it from there.

Is there a monitor in place? Might help the jocks hear the sound balance as it is on the other side

Personally, I thought the new mixer seemed help things as control seemed much better last night.

The one thing I've always loved about empty bottles is that the tunes are in your face and the boys behind the decks want to match that with the sound and give it some. You certainly know you've been to a bloody good music event when you leave.......tired legs, no voice, ringing ears and a massive feeling of musical fulfilment.

Absolutely top night last night. Great flow, great guest spots who slotted perfectly into the EB vibe.

I loved it.

Gaz - message me about ideas for membership, got somert to discuss

Your right mate... It just took a bit more finesse than the usual wacking them up full... I think I played a few 1st set probably a bit too quiet and I tweaked up a couple during Adams set which were a little quiet. All sounded fine in the main dance floor but I thought that might of caused the quieter sound in the bar area maybe. I really shouldn't get involved in technical stuff... Cos I know Shite all :-D I like the membership card idea, Gaz.

It sure was night of flat out dance tracks from start to finish. The resident jocks set the pace, and the guest DJs were firing on all four cylinders,to make it yet another storming night at Empty Bottles. Well done all involved.

Many thanks.
