Bottom of the stairs has been the "wrinklies" gathering point recently so a few Shackleton chairs and a Zimmer frame or two would be most appreciated

I think John looks at us lot & thinks he might be in for a bit over time :wicked:

With Pete guesting and all the way from Somerset, plus Arthur and the excellent residents hope Denise is well enough so we can make it to what promises to be the outstanding event on the soul calender for us.

Sounds grrrrrrrreat to me

There was only one track out of the 30 that I didn't like, & that was the squeezy peaches one, I had to fast forward everytime that one came on (Sorry!) so if you're playing that one tonight will you give me advance warning so I can run outside  :D

Yeah, well done on the win  sounds like it was a nail-biter, and I bet it was fun in your house on Thursday, well, for half the household   :)

See you, both? later

Really enjoyed last night, numbers were down with so many other things on & the general bank holiday break, but oh my, I still had a wonderful time spent with great people listening to the best music around!!!

I do feel bad because I couldn't dance to Pete Lyster's fantastic last spot at the end of the night, but my feet were truly shot at by then.  Some incredible music was belted out from those decks last night (in the main quality 60's, with a dash of 70's)    The music was superb & more than made up for not having a packed house.

Cheers Martyn for spinning Ozz for me & it was great to see Lynn out again looking so gorgeous

Well done to Azza (AWOL in Australia), Rich Buckley (held the fort tremendously last night on his own) & Eddie Wainwright (AWOL in Whitby lol) for this unique night & for bringing forward thinking guest deejays to Leeds  :hatsoff2:(I know! forward thinking with old music, but some will understand where I'm coming from)

Loved it & when's the next one ???

Regards

HI ALI,

Good to see you again last night and thanks for your support and kind comments.

Yes it was dissapointing regarding the attendance but in particular the Easter weekend and many other events, some local that certain promoters knew would clash, contributed to that.

However it was still a great evening of fantastic music with a dj line up which would have something for everybody.I knew from hearing all the dj's previously that they would not dissapoint. The two residents on the night, Rich B and Rich E set the platform followed by a couple of tasters from Pete and Arthur. Martyn Bird then took to the decks and played a great mix of 60s and some seventies, both r and u and a few better known sounds. Rich Buckley followed and although i was on the door for most of his spot the ears pricked up on many occasions with somw amazing tunes eminating from the room.

Arthur Fenn was next up and wow what a set. So many tunes that were knew to my ears which flowed effortlessly through the spot. The dance floor was busy throughout Arthur's spot  which is always a testament to how good the music was. Pete Lyster followed and again the music was spot on. Pete played a great mix of the lesser known tunes mixed in with some excellent dancers which maintained the whole mood of the night.

Many thanks to all who supported the event on the night and a special mention to the south coast crew, the couple from Scotland, girls from Grantham and all who travelled some distance to be there. Nice to see Nige Brown on a night off and thouroghly enjoying himself.

I cannot thank all th dj's enough for their time and effort and  making the night that little bit more special for me.

regards ROY

PS. Ali i was there and did contribute in a small way, lol........Love ya!.

As always a pleasure to spin a few at one of the best night's (& venues,I love the place)around imo.As someone pointed out that that was a proper "across the board night" with more or less all bases covered at some time or other during the night. What I loved most about the sets played was how the mega rare & expensive tune sat so easily next to the cheaper more common ones, all tunes chosen purely for what they would bring to the night.Don't usually like to pick out other dj's but some of the tunes which Arthur & Pete played were a bit special & there wouldn't be many venues last night playing such quality but as much as it pains me to admit the Taffy Cockney young Buckley's second set hit all the right buttons for me,imo could well be the best set I've heard him play........& the Ginger Ninja didn't let the East Coast down

So when Bruce sorry Azza gets home I'm sure he'll be a bit envious at what he missed

So I'm in Albo's gang........when's the next one!!

Cheers

Martyn

PS Nearly forgot the icing on the cake was seeing Mick & Mo for the first time in ages, certainly reminded me how much I've missed them

Great music last night, our first visit to the new venue.Nice to catch up with Pete and Cath Lyster, sorry we missed Tom and Jerry in your second set.

Thanks to Rich Evans for the info, always nice to ask about a record and find you've got it tucked away on an untried flip side.

After last month's shenanigans I thought I'd give Soul Source reviewing a miss for a while, but actually it's only fair after me saying what I didn't enjoy so much about last month's TDB that I should post something saying how much I DID enjoy it this time.

Absolutely brilliant night.  Cracking.  From the KO it was quality soul music all the way.  I thought that Arthur's spot might not be up my street, but if that's what he plays, I'm off to Boomerang!  I've not heard Pete Lyster before, but his tunage was quality.  Rich B provided us with his customary excellence, Martyn played so many tunes that I love, but most impressive was Rich Evans, for actually managing to stand up behind the decks - impressive ;-)

Personally, I enjoyed the extra elbow room on the dance floor, and I spent so much time on it that any previous quibbles I've had regarding seating were moot as I never sat down once :-)

Thanks for a great night guys - I'm so happy one of my favourte soul nights is back to its best.

David
