Gosh, we're getting a good response to this already, on here & on Facebook. It is a fabulous ballroom, I have attended many different functions in the 2 rooms we will be using, including my son's wedding & my husband's funeral wake. Rod ,Danny & I have always talked about holding an event here & after long negotiations I am so happy we have secured these 2 rooms. We've a long way to go with organising some of the details but watch this space,

I've finally got some news on room prices for people wanting to stay over for this event.

The Prince of Wales Hotel are going to hold 30 rooms at a reduced rate for us, the rooms are priced at;

£80 for a double

£50 for a single

Ring the Prince of Wales Hotel direct on 01704 536688 & ask for Lana, please quote the promotion code "Soulchoons"

For those not wanting to pay those prices there is a brand new Travel Lodge just opened across the road  (approx 3 minute walk),Post code PR8 1RN.

They are advertising rooms at the moment for £34 and I know someone that has booked for £39, I think the prices could go up nearer the time so book early;

Tel. 08715 591 862

Will keep looking for rooms for the weekend & post when I find any I think reasonable,

Carol

Cheers Kev , thanks for reminding us. 3weeks and counting down now. The are sites out there with reduced rooms for The Prince Of Wales" so if you are thinking of staying shop around. The feel for the alldayer has a real exciting buzz for it, and will be a fitting tribute to Chris Gilboy a friend and well known Soulie. I know Chris would smile and be honoured with the thought of a two room soul event in his memory. The money raised from the event will go to The Alder Hey children's Hospital. Carol choose Alder Hey as it is close to her heart, so please if you have nothing on that Bank holiday Sunday come and join us.Two great rooms, a great line up in DJs that knew Chris, and a lot of like minded soul friends. Look forward to seeing you all there!, Rod Clegg

Less than a fortnight to go now & just a few bits to sort, food will be available on the day in the form of sandwiches, which will be available behind the bar, and a hotdog stand just off the main room, there are lots of cafes, restaurants & take-aways near by for anyone wanting something different.

Am looking forward to this & dreading it in equal measure, just as I was the final Soulchoons@theMill, but it will be great to see everyone & raise funds for a charity that Chris cared for so much.

DJ times to follow but I'll leave that to Rod & Danny ;)

Well were to start.!!!

A BIG thank you to everyone who attended the event yesterday. I know a lot of people traveled mega miles to come to this event and this just shows what a great well liked guy Chris Gilboy was. We knew with all of the talk that it was going to be a good turn out, but i was blown away with the numbers. What a fantastic site seeing 450+ soulies dancing singing and having a great time. Within the 1st 15 mins of opening we had over 100 in. After all of the expenses i am proud to say that we have raised £2,865 for charity. I will let carol decide were the money is to go to.

There are so many people to thank from all of the DJ's giving up there time to support us and keep you all dancing, Carol and Rod for all the promoting and help organizing the event with me. there is so much that goes into putting these events on that it would be impossible to do it on my own. Thank you to Steve Clayton & Bob Taylor for taking the modern room out of my hands, they did a fantastic job organizing everything and made my life so much easier,  Bob & Clive for the equipment in the modern room and all of the soulaid and soul on the edge guys for keeping the modern room rocking. Thanks to kev farley on the printing of the flyers, Nick for rotting everyone's teeth with sweets and lollipops and everyone who helped with the door.

I think we all did Chris proud and showed what a great scene we live for.

well its now time for me to chill out and relax.

thank you once again guys, without the support there is no event

Keep the faith

Danny Clegg

P.S what this space for an other event at the prince.

So proud of the folk who attended or sent best wishes for our event. Danny probably covered everything, but I would like to say again 'without you' it wouldn't have been a successful event.£2865 for Alder Hey Hospital a charity that was close to Chris & Carol Gilboy's heart. Once again thanks to all the great DJs  and to everyone for the fantastic feedback.  Hopefully will see you all again at a future event of Soulchoons!, Rod Clegg

About a 6 1/2 hour round trip and ending up sleeping on Andy Skeltons floor with 2 pillows and a bath towel for a blanket last night, was certainly worth it. Thanks to Rod, Danny and Carol for allowing me to do the penultamate spot. Thoroughly enjoyed the day. The venue is awe inspiring and is Victorian opulance at its most majesty. Was glad the limiter was disconnected in the main room as I do believe it wanted to explode on numerous occasions during the course of the day. Well presented, promoted and executed the proceedings were a credit to all involved and a fitting tribute to a much admired and respected man, Mr Chris Gilboy. The amount raised for charity is to say the least impressive and everyone who passed through the doors yestereday should be proud because you did a good thing. Top form.

There's not much I can say that hasn't already been said, except my own personal thanks, firstly to Rod & Danny, with those 2 around there was no way this event wasn't gonna happen, and I'm so glad it did, what a day, I'm still recovering.

thanks to all the DJs in both rooms, I was torn at times, the quality of music in both rooms was amazing.

thanks to the people that gave us a hand on the door, them wristbands can be diddly to fit at times!

and thanks to everyone that came, it was you that created the fabulous atmosphere from the minute the doors opened.

would we do it again? He'll yes!

like Danny said - watch this space,

thanks again,

Carol x
