Lee writes.......Well here we go, time to announce the guest DJ for April. I'm ashamed to say I've never heard our guest DJ spinning the platters, but I've heard so many great things about them I thought it was time that was rectified. Luckily when asked if they fancied gracing the hallowed King Bee decks, she said yes. So in the usual King Bee fashion I'll hand over to the one and only Niamh Lynch
."I harassed and harangued my way into djing in the early 00's.. I started off djing regularly for the Actionettes - an all girl dance troupe, at the club they used to run in London called Sophisticated Boom Boom. It was a fun casual club playing 60s music across the full spectrum from pop to popcorn and garage with a varied clientele and it led me to one of my first northern bookings after they were booked to dance at the Christmas Flipside in Dewsbury.
It wasn't my first trip to Flipside. I'd been before hassling poor Joe Dutton to give me a spot, by way of shoving a mix tape his way. I have been honoured to dj many times at Joe's clubs since and always enjoy them - particularly as his music policy and taste is on a par with mine (albeit he has a bigger and better collection).
I love djing. I've djed all over Europe and the enthusiasm of the crowds never cease to amaze me. I love nothing more than seeing people rush to the dancefloor for a favourite tune. I'm not a dj chatterbox so don't expect brilliant banter (who'd understand my accent anyway?!). But I will try to play some good tunes to make you dance."
And play some great tunes I'm sure Niamh will. It's going to be another storming night with another top notch guest DJ who's guaranteed to get the usual King Bee welcome.......a full dance floor full of King Bees dancing and partying into Sunday morning.
