The 8th Togetherness Northern and Modern Soul Weekender takes place in the stunning, world-famous surroundings of the Blackpool Tower Ballroom and Circus over the weekend on Friday - Sunday 7th, 8th and 9th November 2014 The event has now become a firm favourite on the soul calendar , and once again this year will host the Blackpool Hilton World Northern Soul Dance competition which is the most prestigious of it's kind , judged last year by top celebrities from the scene including BBC's Paul Mason, Corinne Drewery from Swing Out Sister and celebrity chef, Stacie Stewart. A brand new 3rd room added!! The big news for this year is that, due to demand from the soul fraternity, a third room is being added which will feature a more esoteric mix of rare Northern Soul, 60s R+B and 70s crossover soul, with a dash of Ska thrown in for good measure. To facilitate this the promoters have taken over exclusive use of the Lounge , and have also brought forward the opening time on the Friday forward by 6 hours to start at 3pm . This will assist greatly not only in giving everyone even more "soul time" but the wristbanding will be started earlier as a convenience to the many folks who arrive in Blackpool early having journeyed from all parts of the UK. The new third room aka The Lounge is once again organised by John and Julie who have this time put together an even stronger line up of local DJs , up and coming collectors and nationally known names, plus several highly-rated spinners making their Tower debuts! The weekend will get off to a great start with the Blackpool Soul Club on stage for a 3-hour session, and they are accompanied over the weekend in the  Lounge by the Young Souls from Wigan (recently featured on BBC TVs "The One Show" and in the film, "Northern Soul") as well as sets from in newly added DJs including Simon Hunt, Ted Massey, Tim Ashibende, Ozz, Nige Brown, Sean Chapman and Nottingham's "Black Hearts" soul club. During the times when the Tower Lounge is the only room open, the great mix of soul will be complimented with special drinks promotions put together with soul fans in mind! In the magnificent Ballroom, which has just celebrated it's 120th anniversary, the action starts at 9pm on Friday with afternoon and evening sessions also on Saturday and Sunday. In the Circus, there will be two superb sessions of Modern Soul on both Friday and Saturday night with DJs including the legendary Colin Curtis from the Blackpool Mecca. For more details on the Blackpool Tower "Togetherness" Northern and Modern Soul weekender , please visit www.goldsoul.co.uk For all -weekend tickets still priced at only £39 each, please visit www.theblackpooltower.co.uk / www.goldsoul.co.uk , or phone 0871 222 9929 Alternatively you can purchase your ticket in person from Tower box offices on either the promenade or Bank Hey Street.

Can't wait for this one, every year we make the trip to Blackpool Tower in November. I see it as a celebration of Northern Soul and a place to meet likewise Soulies from all over the country. For me there's something for everyone, with more rooms been added this year and a earlier start time on the Friday. See you there Rod & Danny Clegg.

Hey!
I've got into Northern soul about three years ago, but the last year or so, I've been addicted to Northern soul. It has took over my life, I've never come across anything which has had such an effect on me before. I wanna go to as many events across the north west as I can.
But here comes the problem! No one my age, (24) is in to Northern Soul. There are so many events I could have gone to but there is just nobody to go with.
I need to recruit some Northern Soul friends. I will be going to the Blackpool Gold Soul this weekend. Just wondering if anyone who is coming down to Gold soul would like to take a young, up coming Northern Soul fan under their wing.
Many thanks, Kieran Cooper.

Sunday usually has a pay on the door option, we have been to the last 3 Sundays.    I understand the Tower decide based on venue capacity so we will have to wait and see.  I have message the Tower and will post when I have a reply.  KTF

Response for entry on Sunday is attached below.  There is normally a wait to get a wrist band but after that pure soul heaven!!!

"Dear Richard

You will be able to buy a ticket on the door for Sunday, however we won’t be able to tell you if the ticket price will be reduced as this is decided by the organiser on the day.

Kind Regards,

The Blackpool Tower"

Not long back from a great weekend at the best venue I have attended a soul event in, with the best dance floor I have ever danced on. Will be back for at least one of the dates next year work permitting. Nice to see Kie win the dancing championship, she is as good as anyone from previous eras.

Blackpool Northernsoul Weekender Highlights:

Finally getting to our digs after a nightmare journey due to traffic to find the digs were absolutely immaculate and we have had some right shitholes in the past.

Walking into the venue and talking to the security staff and thanking them for their conduct and handling of the tragedy of the last event, you guys are a credit to your profession.

Getting into that magnificent ball room and seeing it completely chocker block full of dancers all with smiling faces, if you can knock that then you are truly a knobber.

Getting into the corner and meeting and greeting old friends and new friends.

Going up stairs to see John and Julie turning that room into one of excellence and having the privilege of hearing and dancing to some of the best rare soul music I have heard with the bonus of sixties funk and seventies dancers. Yucky RnB and Modern soul to boot!

Giving the Reggae session a try and not only did I enjoy it the dance floor was rammed as well!

Saturday Morning lie in

Winning the dance completion

Spilling boiling hot coffee over Kev Roberts and watching him stifling tears

Watching Ozz giggling

Visiting the modern room just in time to catch some of my favourite spins

Dancing in the main room and having a laugh

Remembrance Sunday Parade and blagging VIP seats yet again

Meeting for a beer afterwards

Going to the top of the tower

Sunday session

Afternoon nap

Sunday evening session

Indian meal

Blackpool was amazing

Thank you
