Hi, Looking good Len. The new venue will be just right and something to look forward to just when those nasty ol nites start dropping in.

Manus are you coming via the moles tunnels or the nene? now you got the periscope ha ha.  If its the Mole then turn right at Thrapson and watch out for the sheep droppings.

eccy la pecky said Lenneth

I'll show em what venues the best

and stuck his hand up his vest.

Might be Nene route ,I have my underwater charts being mapped out now.I have to watch out for enemy minesweepers on the way, have you had the email giving you an update on the latest sightings of cleatus and his bro yet!  they are rumoured to have got past the electric fence round the apalachian mountains compound where they have been restrained for many decades now and are rumoured to have hidden two flight tickets to the good ol UK,from the warders.Cleatus was rumoured to have secreted them in a secret pocket sewn into the inside of the two button bum flap of his long johns.

Ah back on track, the track being the moles complex of tunnels that traverse the land ,the moles version of Arthuer Scargill has called them all out on strike and a scab labour force are the only ones working, this means tunnel maintenence has reached such a critical level the Uk MTC(MOLE TUNNEL COMPANY)have advised anyone travelling between the dates of 30-04-14 and 21-12-14 to seek alternative means of travel stating that their sister company the Duck and Cover River travel  company will allow customers of UK MTT who have already purchased tickets to travel by moles tunnel on and between these dates can use those same tickets to instead go by the river route. Also available will be tickets for road travel by the Get u there Quick,Bus company,a new player on the scene who are a subsiduary of the International Trans Am Feta mining company famous for their supermarket food hall products, who hope to now suceed in the transport biz.

However  whichever which way one travels to it  the main thing is to arrive as for the getting back, think about that after you get there ,for without doubt it will truely be the opening night of a true soul brother and sisterly event with the best in djs and an abundance of the right attitude. No doubts that what will be spun is a top range of soulfull choons and people are going to want to be there.Bring it on Len and co

Hi mate :D

I shall be opening up the back room, by sliding that wall across (as I did for my 40th) and opening up the second bar in that area. This will be where the record selling will take place. Doing so will give the place a completely different feel (along with lotso candles of course)

All the best,

Touching on the 'no music policy' - A D.J may feel like doing a complete oldies spot one night (which is absolutely fine) I just want like minded folk to come and have fun. If you like soul music, you like soul music - It ain't Rocket Science.

If everyone comes with that in mind - We will be in for a corker!

All the best,

Len

Quick update - I am not doing the January 17th 2015 date because it unfortunately clashes with Karl and Marcos event just down the road in Kettering (My mistake, I didn't notice!) So I may simply move that date forward to late January / early February.

It's a blo*dy nightmare picking dates, but all concerned are trying their best to at least not clash locally. Originally I was only going to do 2 per year anyway, but after numerous discussions, it was felt that people wanted me to do at least 3. I shall do so, and 'carry on smoking' as long as the support is there

All the best,

Len

I had to ask Nina about this one, she said (and I quote)......"Is Brian some sort of famous Cage Fighter?"........As if I would know that sort of info! :D

Talking of Cage Fighters, it wasn't a 'term of condition' with the venue, but I have chosen to have a Door Man simply to keep any 'Non' Soulies out. So if you are a young person (under 30!) and you wanna get in, you best wear a nice smile :D This Guy has done the door for us before, and is cool

I wish to make it clear (kimbo esk as if) that I do not know Manus when he is out with Brian from this point on! Well apart from the other week when Manus had so much trouble with Brian he mislaid his specs approx. 3amish...... only to find them days later in the freezer!!! nor is there any truth that Brian made Manus wear the frozen specs and had role play in his kitchen on Scotts journey to the north pole. I had no choice but to tow the cage to the alldayer as Manus said he would split on me for posing in the center spread of exchange and mart. So there. Lets here some musings from the bard himself.

Welcome home ME.  Yes, I feel I am returning to happy times of the former Silks and Embankment with Mr. Len.  A time of music policy to die-for.  A time of great atmosphere.  Back to a time you don't seem to get that often these days.  This is the event to make sure you attend and then get the future dates in your planner.  I cannot wait.

There's a whole crowd of us coming over from Banbury for this.

Good news,Brians flight plans have just been confirmed, he will be landing in at Gatwick  three o'clock Friday afternoon, his hogbox will be waiting ready to convey him first to Bletchley  to say hello to Mark then on to Kimbos where lisa has made him a nice embroidered blanket featuring his last opponent ,a full grown bull elephant lying at his feet while Brian drinks a gallon bucket off his favourite tipple, castlemaine four x,he couldnt give a four x for any other type of amber nectar. The scene presents Brian triumphant in his last defence of the world mixed deadly fighting beast championship as champion he reigns supreme,1400 hundred pounds of prime Razorback Hog from down under.Brian is a renaissence hog, this mighty razorback paints in the style of jackson pollock, well thats what the floor looks like after hes finished eating,he has a horticulturists shop that is a long way from here ,melbourne victoria to be exact,he often come a long way to defend his title round the world at various international venues or "Pits of death",the british one being in Albert Halls back garden in Romford where he famously saw of a salt water croc called william in a fight to the death televised liveon "Gud morning ya bar stards, ear in oz,tv.Most of all Brian loves soul with a big S,S for superb, uptempo, midtempo old ,new, rare not rare, modern etc, as long as it rings that bell and shivers that back,if it makes his bristles stand up and his trotters start to paw the ground beneath ,well thats the sort of soul he loves.

Now,we told Brian last time he was here about the den and the demise of the bowl and he was castlemaine four x ed to hear it had gone, fear not we told him a new venue will be opening its doors in October this year,I'l be there ,he said, Kimbos given  him some cd s from the den days and hes like a cat,a phooken big one at that,on a hot tin roof itching, well hes always scratching anyway,to get here. The main consideration will be how close we can park Brians hog box(A converted horse box that he travels in equiped with a forty gallon drum of four x for his consumption, layers of straw, for the the obvious absorbtion on the the flowing outcome of the income of the copious amounts of four x,a set of high quality speakers so that he can listen to choons and now an embroidered blanket to keep him warm if he gets a bit chilly.Brian is a very considerate razorback hog and is very grateful for your invitation of admittance but he would like to say he realises the damage his steel hard trotters and his massive muscular prime razorback bulk bearing down on them will do to dance floors, and no amount of talc will limit the impact so as at Derby he will be content if his hog box can be parked as near as possible to the venue as razorbacks have supersensitive hearing ,he will hear the choons from inside being able to filter out all extraneous noise,he also has a microphone that can be placed in the building that will play the music straight to his speakers in the hog box.Brian says that he can not resist dancing in his own way when the vibes hit him especially when the four x is flowing,so there would be no way he would not damage the floor if he comes in and he doesnt want you,Len, to incur any extra costs, the atmosphere of being there is enough for Bri though he does want to meet you Len for a chat about the choons being played that night.

There are a number of other things to consider on the night,Brians Hog Box has some sections made of shiplap wooden type panellin and ,as the Hog Box is getting on some in years there have appeared some large gaps and cracks and it has been known for folk to come and talk to Brian through the gaps and even feed him various things. Now Brian, dont let him know I said this,is a right gannet, like all members of the pig family he will eat anything including horse,he in fact did eat a wild stallion called "Firebrand",after killing him in one of his earlier beast fights. Please do not feed Brian,he will beg, entice say all sorts, that we starve him,he hasnt eaten for weeks,he is a  right as the aussies say"Smooth talking barsteward ",but dont listen he consumes normous amounts of grub every day just to keep in prime beast fighting condition and replace what he burns off training. He will ask for walkers crisps saying they are his favourite and he hasnt eaten any for many a year,if you are foolish enough to give in to him and and buy him some do not in any circumstance get him smoky bacon, his faves are "Pickled onion", "French truffle", and a brand unavailable here known as "Swill", the closest I can think of to the flavour  or lack of,of swill would be the smell and look of one of those buy a meal for a pound type  chicken shops that have opened evrywhere(theres got to be somewhere to launder the smack money hasnt there?)you know burger and chips,or kebab meat and chips etc(all these titles of course break the trade descriptions act  as to what they really contain, beef lamb, yeh right!)as you can imagine we dont need swill on sale in the uk ,those shops are bad enough.

There was an incident some short time ago when last in the uk and at Derby with us,Brian was parked in the carpark while we were at the all dayer ,when we came out and got back to the box there were crisp packets ,empty of course, and crumbs all around the Hog Box, I reckon that Crystal Tipps had gone out to have a look at him and fell for his patter and bought him crisps after he must of told her a tale!I asked him "Who gave you the crisps mate?",

"Crysta he started to say then quickly after a short loud put on cough said" cris pu su , crisps mate what crisps?"

I knew he was covering up because when I was introduced to Crystal Tipps earlier, she mentioned Brian, something about she ate  some of one of his relatives in a sandwich for brekky that morning,I know she was joking but I think she went out to have a look in the Hog Box and Brian told her a sob story so she got him some pickled oninion and some truffle flavour favourites of his!

I have no doubt you have a really good man on the door Len but Brian has said if push comes to  the vastly outnumbered shoving of hordes of unwanted no goods trying to force their way in Brian will get"Out his Box",which he likes to do as often as possible and lend a trotter!

Like Brian I myself am looking well forward to some philosophical soul on Saturday, like him I would not give a castlemaines four x for anywhere else to be on Saturday night than at the opening of Lennys, bring it on.We want Lennys!!!!!!!!!!!

Brians an avid collecter, anything on the Sue ee  Sue wee here pig pig pig label but for goodness sake dont mention huff an puff!Another thing  I forgot to mention about Brian is he is a real Ladies Razorback and usually they love him and crowd round the Hog Box to pet him and he revels in showing off his muscles and chatting away but on Saturday hes there purely and simply for the soul and nowt else, its going to be a pilgrimage for him!,more on that later! but for now he wants to say to the ladies who may try to interfere and mess with his listening to the choons with his full philosophical attention, well he will let mike and the censataions say it "Dont mess with me",especially when hes tuned into a choon. Now remember that goes for any one, anyone at all trying to "Hang on his tail like a bloodhound",when hes into the music(Razorbacks dont like havin their tails pulled,or hung on,it makes the bristles on their back stand up.Actually their bristles stand up on their backs for all sorts of things, its a razorback thing!

I'm still baffled why Len had a giant marshmallow shrimp sweet on the stage, I went to the bar and asked do you sell marshmallow shrimp? to which the barman replied who are you calling shrimp, arsehole and battered me with a bag of Nobbies nuts.

Great to shoot the breeze with everyone. Enjoyed all the sets and had a good dance not hit the floor that hard for a good while. Hope that Len gets the support he deserves. Its a nite out to enjoy yourself to the best music in the world. No politics or ego's, as simple as that.

Thanks for truly great night Len and hopefully the first of many more.

Really enjoyed playing a few the first hour as people were arriving thick and fast....my philosoulphical choices just posted in playlists for anyone interested, only marginally different from Kimbo's above :D but that really was just skimming the surface of what we all heard and danced our socks off too on the night. Just Brilliant sets from everyone and great crowd. I'll add some photos in a bit.

Roll on 31st Jan

Everyone knows business has been tough, so ‘one step at a time’ an' all that……I’ll get the other Ear for the next one, then the nose, etc - by the end of 2016 we should have the complete Mr Patato Head (All being well) :D

Len

Thanks so much to all those who supported the launch night of 'Lennys' - that’s everyone who attended of course, but also all those that have helped ‘in the planning’, FLYERS! words of encouragement etc, etc this past 6 months.

I couldn't have wished for a better start to this next 'venture'

See you all back there on Sat 31st Jan 2015. Please spread the word to like minded friends - Thank you.

As all the previous Banbury Peeps have reported - one hell of a night.

So nice to be back in this establishment.  Really well laid-out.

So many faces there all together - you know the ones that match the music policy.

Where else do you hear the following played out AND all in one night...............

Alice Clark - Don't you care.

S.P.D. - My illusions.

Four Gents - Tomorrow may never come.

J.J. Barnes - Gotta get rid of you.

Johnny James - Tell you about my girl.

Ann Sexton - I still love you.

We'll all be back end of Jan 2015 Len.

Along with a host more, once they have read up on the Feedback.

Cheers..............        Tom.

Len;

As you know from our many long and at times laborious :) chats, we know there are people out there who just want to have a good time and listen to something a tad different the proof in all this was Sat night, all the jocks excelled at what they do but once again a special mention for Lord Vanner, going about his business as only he knows how too.

I wanted to chat but I also wanted to listen too, so the music won out there.

Enjoyed every minute, shame I had to leave half way through Mick & Mo's spot but a guest spot on a radio show had me driving up the M1 early doors Sunday.

Great start then to what we can only hope will become a regular haunt for like minded folk.

I thought it was a King Edward untill Len told me was an ear!
