"Soul In The Bowl" 2 Rooms of Soul! Details

The last one of the year! DJ's in the main room, Rob Smith, Ady Cope, Colin Chamberlain and Steve Brown, (fellow resident DJ Glenn Bellamy will be sunning himself in Italy but will be back for the next one. Dates for next year are now on the board starting off on Saturday 7th February. The Den will be featuring the usual mix of the rare, underplayed and crossover with a touch of modern thrown in for good measure. All under the guidance of Mr Karl Boddington along with Gary Huxley, Tank, Phil Attley and Ady and Colin when they have done their stint in the main room. We work them hard at the Bowl.

**** In order to avoid a clash with Len's new venture 'Lennies' which is being launched on 11th October, I have moved Soul In The Bowl forward to September 13th. Thanks to Hipcat Express for kindly swapping the dates with me for the Mod night!*****

Karl was very upbeat about The Den when we spoke at The Soul Sessions on Sunday. Looking forward to meeting/hearing Ady & Colin. Think I've spoken to Garry occasionally and of course great to be alongside my old pal Phil. Just need to sort out the box!

Tank, the last time we were all together was at the Pembo a few years back. Really pleased to have you at the Bowl with Phil. it meant a lot then and means a lot now. How old were we when the 3 of us used to spin some tunes the first time round?

Well now?  You were already very old while me & Phil were still at school and impressionable!! Moor Rd Youth Club was the place and it's a shame the old place has never been acknowledged in local NS history. Had some good nights back then with the Wellingborough crowd over, Tez, the Evans bros, Mick Gavin, Baz Looker etc and of course our own very savvy collectors and scene-sters Tony P, Rug Bowers, Wilkey, Danny Smith, Griff, your old mate Malcy Gilbert

Of course I was of the 1st dynasty being a classmate of Martin. I also used to go up to Moore Rd way before then which is how I got my first taste of Soul in general. If I helped you on the path to where the pair of you are now then 'job well done'. See you Saturday!

Rob Smith is having a sales table on the night. If anyone else wants a sales table for either records or merchandise please PM me. Also anymore ticket reservations can be sent by PM and save a pound per head right up to 6.00pm tomorrow.

Glad to see you're getting the hang of this premium room promoting malarkey!

You really need to get your name in it though and create an identity, Karl's Kave, you can have that one.

Seriously, it's good to see you have Ady and Colin on, nice guys with some great tunes.

All set up at the Bowl. Bring it on!

Big thanks to Gibby for all his help this afternoon. He has worked non stop. The sound quality is superb.

Good point John. Karl's Kavern? Bit of a Beatles reference there :) . Anyway a huge thank you Karl. Your input has been immense. People think these things just happen but without all the help it just wouldn't be possible.

Fantastic night in the main room and only wish I had had more time to spend in the 'Kavern'. Great sets from all the guests and an education to watch Rob Smith bewitch the dance floor at the end. That was something else! Roll on February 7th!

Steve, I had a sensational night at Soul in the Bowl. All the DJ's played brilliant sets in both rooms, the dance floor was busy right from the very start. Now looking forward to 7th Feb:))) One big thankyou to Steve and Gibby for working hard through the day setting up equipment and to everybody that came along to this event:)

Karl's Kave or Kavern....it'll develop. Freedom of choice. Great diversity. Intelligent selections. No pressure to play trophy sounds. Top tunes and like Garry only missed a few segments to have a taboo ciggy! Big props to John Mc, Micky, Dave Flavell and others for support. Will post playlist later. Always enjoy playing! Phil's Mecca spot was just like being there c.74/75. Thanks to the team for the invite. Peace!
