Just got back from my first time at Route 61.

Steve, you lot played some excellent, excellent tunes - plenty off the beaten track. I just wanted to get up to every one - if only I was 20 years younger!

Can't recommend it enough - all you Sheffield soulies and beyond should get yourselves down there!!!

Hello All

Another great night at "The Route", numbers down a bit as with most bank holidays, with the staging of lots of different venues.  We still had a great time, myself, Terry and Steve Foster playing well and not so well known sounds , much to the delight of the audience.  Steve Powell, our guest played a superb spot which always happens when you have a dancer on the decks.

Sorry that some of our nationwide regular faces weren't there to witness Steve's spot. But we realise how difficult travelling is on B/H Fridays and have come to expect it. Anyway my friends, thanks for coming and making it special, enjoy the rest of your B/H weekend and stay safe.

See you all around then.

Thanks from a Ginger to a Ninja !

It is a fabulous ethos by which Steve runs '61'  Always about the Music.  Another night of quality music. Some years behind those decks with Steve, Ian, Steve and myself. Not bursting at the doors last night but a fabulous night had by all.  Like Ian said - B/H are always busy, so many events on.  If you get the opportunity then get yourselves down to Route 61, honestly, you will not be disappointed.

Hello everyone,

Even though we had a great time to a very appreciative crowd we were still missing some of the regular faces as Ian has pointed out Bank holiday Fridays is always difficult to get a full house, but that never held us back from giving the one's that supported us a fabulous night with a selection of great records that just want to make you get up & dance,

I thank you all that that travelled to Route61 & help make last night so enjoyable.

Thank you to our guest DJ Steve Powell for his contribution giving us such an enjoyable spot of classic soul ~ thank you also to Terry & Ian who did the same with a mixture of well known favourites & some lesser known & underplayed gems ! along with my contribution of the same, all in all the music was just the ticket for the crowd !

Thank you to my Daughter Lisa looking after the door & Son in-law Martin for the help in set up & strip down of equipment !

Things that people were saying to me last night were If only we could have a Saturday night at "Route61" it would be rammed they say the music & sound system is fantastic the venue its self is ultra clean great dance floor and a lovely warm atmosphere when you enter the room, what more could one ask for !

Regards Saturday nights I have asked many times for this but the management have always refused because of the money they can make on a function which includes food,

Having said that I am going to try my best to talk the management into letting us give it a try it may result in costing more for the room if they agree?

Wish me luck on that !!!

Until I see you about take care of your selves & keep safe !!!

Hello All

As stated previously, absolute belter of a night at "The Route" again. Just  side tracking a bit, I had a very interesting chat with a couple of well known Dj's at Dudley last night, the topic of conversation was the underplayed and forgotten sounds of this wonderful scene of ours.  We were all in complete agreement that it is criminal that so many fantastic records that filled floors many years ago are now sat lingering in record boxes all over the UK.  This is the sort of stuff that Steve, Terry and myself are building in to our sets at "61".  Appreciative dancers pick up on these records if the beat is on or around the optimum Northern tempo.

These sort of records are not expensive and not even rare and given a little air time will start to get, and not before time proper dance floor action.  So come on you fellow Dj's and dancers, open the box a little bit wider and lets reinvigorate this truly great and unique scene of ours.

See you soon somewhere then.

KTF

In my view last Friday 23 May was possibly the best music played over the last 6 months. Although the numbers were down the dancers were superb!

come on everybody support Steve as he gives it his all, hope more will be there next month. There is an old saying use it or lose it!!!!
