Well not many hours to go now,up early just making the final adjustments to the horse box we have aquired that Kimbo will be hitching to the back of his car so that we can bring our Australian guest,"Brian ,the world champion giant razorback hog(undefeated in over fifty beast fights) to his first northern soul event ever.Brian developed a love of the genre due to being exposed to the choons of  severel ex pats beloved collections they brought with them to the land of oz.Brian is thrilled over attending a soul event and travelling with us in his horse aka "Hog "box even though he will have to stay parked in his hog box in the carpark as his steel like trotters would damage the dance floors,he is over the moon at just being near such a what will be top c;lass soul event.Kimbo has asked that people do not feed Brian by putting food through the number of gaps that there are in the planking on the sides of the hog box.Brian will have  choons from the car piped in to his box on the way there and back but while in the car park has asked just to be able to savour the soul vibe and the occasional bar or two of a tune coming from inside the rose royce. Also would attendees please refrain from putting their hands through the gaps to pet Brian as he can be unpredictable with people as he was once whipped as a young hoglet by two appalachian visitors to Oz known as the the cleatus brothers, jim bob and jo bob.Brian uses Little Carl Carlton's competition aint nothing as his theme song when he enters the pit to take part in his beast fights with other types of deadly beasts from round the world. He has become known as the razorback with soul!

Myself,Mark(Blues fifty)Kimbo and his other half Lisa and of course Brian are all eagerly awaiting the clock to tick away those lazy Sunday hours till its time to explode into soul action

.Rose Royce mini Dayer where soulies and an Australian razorback  say this is the only place to be today and anywhere else, well we couldnt give a castlemaines four x for.

PS If he asks do not give Brian a fag(he may well ask  you to pass one through a gap in the hog box)Brian has been told it is dangerous to smoke when the box is full of straw!Normally if on the right type of surface say concrete Brian can be given a cigarette,he is making it up if he says he is never allowed to smoke,he can often be seen with a Corstrewth Bine (The australian version of a non tipped Woodbine)hanging from his mouth as he entertains with recollections of his title fights to onlookers and various sycophants .

PPS.Kimbo may not be bringing a lorry load of  records but he will be bringing a  hors.........sorry hog box full of soul loving prime fighting ozzie razorback who will not require a table as he will be parked up in the carpark locked in his box(not a record box).Brian not being able to come in and look for himself has given us a wants list to look out for when we look in boxes.(record  boxes of course not hog).

They are certainly on his list as is Apple Sauce by Carl t Pork product trader on a rare australian issue verve label.then dare I at the risk of offending the many lovely lady soul fans on the scene with what to me is a chauvanistic choon but he insists on having it on his wants list,"I keep me sows in line". by Hoggy Lands on the butchers Laurie label.I for one will not be purchasing this on his behalf as it offends my ideals of equality.

Great day, night at Rolls Royce, met some new people and some already known and dear to,I liked the choons in both rooms, the northern oldies played quite a few cleethorpes original pier era which I liked,I much preferred Cleethorpes ,Samathas ,St Ives to Wigan when it was on  although I  did go to the big barn  more than a few times, mostly in later 70s to sit on the steps outside m's waiting for it to openI preferredthe music policy  of those other venues  mid seventies..Nice one Dave in the modern room introduced formerly to each other at last and his lovely other half Tracy, see you soon at Len s new night in October.

I really liked the plush ness of the venue and the floors were both well all right not sticky and corrugated as some can be.I was pleased to find that some doors were part open or if that wasnt the case the air conditioning was top rate.I said to Kimbo and Mark not forgetting Lisa that it was a good idea Brian staying in  his hog box out in the carpark, after all razorbacks are renowned for using both ears like radars moving them in what is an incredible340 degrees while not moving their head tuning in and focusing sound in an amazing way ,so he could hear well from his box the choons that were playing focusing in on one room then the other, because if he had come in his hoofs would have mutilated the floor.Brian himself had praise for all he heard his one complaint when I brought him out a pint was that it wasnt  castlemaine four x,he tried to deny it but I saw three empty  bovril flavour crisp packets on the floor beside the box.He had been at it again ,enticing over passersby or folk parking their cars and telling them we dont feed him and he would just love to taste some bovril flavour crisps again as he had been on starvation rations for the past six years.I hop[e those who fed Brian realise that he duped them and that he is also a right pig with his food and they were lucky that as they passed crisps through the gap in the box he never snaffled their fingers off.He was a bit annoyed we didnt manage to find the choons he wanted (I didnt look but dont tell him)I said to him that although his fellow aussie had sung it "Getting on life",was a choon folk these days even if they did still or once liked it would not want to admit it let alone be seen to have one for sale in their box at dayer, nighter or soul night.I told him it would take to long to explain the politics !

Over to quickly it was time to go home and on the way back to mine first to drop me and him in his hog box off we were slowed down a little bit by the high head winds on the motorway making it dangerous when towing a large Hog Box, but got back safely. After Kimbo ,Mark and Lisa said goodbye to me self and Brian he had to get ready to go back to Australia later that day.He was very happy to say he loved his soul day out in blighty. When he gets back to Oz he has some cds  to share with the expats he knows and to relax before he takes on a salt water croc in his next fight. He will spend some time with his missus running the business he has 100 miles away from Sidney people travel great distances to come and purchase horticultural products from the Razorbacks small retail establishment, some even bring their very young children.Brian always greets them with ,You've. come a long way baby!!!!!

Good on yer Kev for putting on a   classy soulful event and I hope you enjoyed your special day to the max Wendy lovely to meet you.

Ps  Very nice to meet you also  Crystal Tipps looking forward to having a chat next time were at the same event atb MANUS.
