The World Cup Final - NOPE!

We've held a couple of reasonably successful Sunday afternoon's at Grundys already and have now firmed up dates for the rest of the year.

Sunday July 13th 2014 from about 1.00 pm 'ish until 7.30 / 8.00 pm 'ish.

With guests ...... Terry Wright and Graham Malley and maybe one other?

Terry Wright has been a successful soul event promoter and DJ for several years, decades even!, in the South Yorkshire area, with his current project "Sole not Dole", attracting excellent crowds each time.

'Gray' Malley is a Derby lad through and through, who's been around soul music for ever - Olde English, 76 Club, The Blue Orchid and more. He's a keen collector of British issued soul music, who certainly knows his stuff....expect to be entertained!

So, if you fancy a rather pleasant afternoon, socialising with like-minded souls, drinking real ale ( there's bloody loads of them too!) and possibly indulging in a Sunday roast dinner(12pm - 4pm), then you know where you oughtta be..... and hopefully, it'll be super sunny just like, in the picture below.

Music policy will be all things soulful, with a little bit of everything ..... but not too much of any one thing .... at any one time!

Regulars .... Rob Kay, Dave Lucas and Kev Rodgers .... although, Dave might not be around for this one?

So, we'd like you to join us for some soulful ear and foot refreshment in the very comfortable surroundings of Mr Grundy's ..... which happens to have it's own brewery on-site .... and if you don't fancy the chef-prepared Sunday Lunch, there's baguettes, chips and a range of other foods available too.

The dates for the rest of the year are:

Sunday 5th October

Sunday 7th December

Well, just thought I'd let you all know that, the "one other" has now become .....the one and only, Mr Franc Giacobbe ..... who will be joining Gray Malley for a double-deck session, most likely earlier, rather than later in the proceedings. Despite his youthful looks, Franc was a regular at the Wheel and Torch as well as local venues like the Blue Orchid and still has, despite some recent sales, a collection to die for.

Well Gray Malley and I, have been having a bit of "Franc confusion" ............ so, it won't be Mr Giacobbe who will be gracing the decks this time- he'll be otherwise enraged,  ........ but the rather affable Mr Francis Gierak! ..... born & bred in Stoke, but had a visa application granted many years ago and emigrated to Derby  .... where he's been ever since!

So Franc Gierak, completes the line up for what promises to be a rather tantalising afternoon / evening of soul music ..... think I might have to have the Monday off work!!!!

Morning all, no sun here .... yet, but it's still flippin' warm, perhaps it'll show it's bright shiny face just in time for Groovin'  .... which would be nice, superb beer garden, real ale beer straight from the in-house mini brewery or maybe an ice-cold cider or lager topped off with excellent company and some rather fine soul music .....

Whatever you're doing, hope you all have a stonkin' Sunday.

See you later?

Take care, Kev

Well, the sun shone  .... eventually ...... and we had a rather splendid afternoon, with good company & great music.

Graham & Fran kicked things off, followed by a rather nice mixed set from Terry Wright .... and then, Tyrone 'Taz' Birks, our surprise late guest DJ really cranked things up, before Rob and I rounded things off the last 3 hours or so!

I'd just like to say a big Thank You to all those who came along, it was a flippin' long, but very enjoyable day.
