Good question Andy

Can anyone wanting advance tickets, either contact the event starter via pm or contact Terry Hopkinson (toc) either via pm on here or on his mob: 07976 382342.

May I also ask all DJ's who are on facebook to contact Terry Hopkinson with regards to national 'thumbs up' day in October, all details are on his facebook page.

Next question Dekka ....could do with some flyers ASAP . Good to see , looking at 'events' on here there's no clashes in York , North Yorkshire, West Yorkshire including Leeds so hopefully should be a packer and lots of money raised for the charity.

Hi Andy

I posed the same question to Toc last week and I know he is working on it, so hopefully this week or latest next week, Toc will be posting me the flyers and then I will be distributing to DJ's on my list.

Great news about no clashes and I'm sure it will be a packer as were the others.

Hi Tony,

Will see you and the gang at the Manhattan, soz but will not be at Kellingley, don't have the stamina anymore for two consecutive nights on the floor.

Looking forward to Harrogate, the only downside is that "her who must be obeyed" has insisted on some '.....retail shopping therapy in gentile Harrogate' before

we hit the Manhattan, so you better make sure there's space at the bar when I get in!!!!!!!!!

Well the big day has arrived, people travelling from all around the country as all roads lead to Harrogate and as Billy has said all for a good cause, if this don't restore your faith in humanity then nothing will.

I want to personally thank all my DJ's for giving up their time at some considerable cost and effort and all to help people perhaps less fortunate than themselves and in so doing helping the Professor and others like him find a cure for this terrible disease.

We have Paul (Blue Lagoon) on here the rookie DJ for the first half hour 4 - 4:30 who will be kick starting proceedings in dekka's Roots Room, Paul has agreed to Pledge a donation and he will also be selling merchandise in the foyer throughout the night and of which a similar donation will be made, well done Paul, glad to have you on board mate.

Been a busy weekend, long drive home last night and an afternoon at the Gym.  Time to relax, gather my thoughts and make a comment.  Busy last night at Harrogate.  The Modern Room and the Main Hall were banging.  The Rare Room - Dakka's Pad, was a little quiet.  The heating wasn't working and so it was bitterley cold in there.  People popped in and popped back out again after a few minutes for that reason.  Very sad really because there was some sweet stuff played.  One track played by Jay Cee in particular made the night worth while for me all on it's own - Cheers mate.  Get the heating sorted and put a proper sign on the door to drag em in.  Fab venue and very friendly crowd.  All for a great cause.  See you all again soon I hope.

Hi Terry,

Great to meet you and the other guys. The Admirations 'I Want To Be Free' - was the icing on the cake. What a stormer to open your set. Just don't hear it often so I had to hit the dance floor to make the most of it.

Very humbled that you like my own production. You can listen and download here for a £1

https://therewasatim...e-been-thinking

But I will be releasing it as a limited release on 7" vinyl in the next couple of months.

You are right about the room. Just some heat and a more advertising on the door and in the venue would suffice to help pack the room out. Also a dance floor with few ridges between the joins would help me stay on feet lol.

But all in all, it was a brilliant night for a deserving cause that helped raise awareness and funds for the important work. Long may it continue.

See you at the next one.

KTF,

Jay

Once again thanks to all the DJ's and for your support.

We are looking to address the issues raised by having a designated team just for the Roots room, we shall also be upgrading the sound equipment, putting down new flooring, having some subdued lighting, sorting out the ambient temperature for the room, better signage for the room, having some comfy seats and perhaps waitress service.

All comments from the night and since have been taken on board and the designated team are dealing with all the issues, all Saturday night's DJ's did an absolutely fantastic job, the music that was played was sublime, please check out the playlist section to hear what was played. These boys raised the bar so high it will take some matching, however, I'm sure the January DJ's will rise to the challenge

We aim to keep the room fresh and exciting with a variety of DJ's from all over the country bringing the best in allnighter and club sounds as well as the Mod/RnB scene from the various venues around the country.

All in All exciting times ahead

Great  to read a pro active /responsive reply to the feedback rather than taking exception to constructive comments and getting negative/defensive , when in context the room was better than many on the scene ...with the improvements it's destined to be one of the best .Well done Dekka & Charity Soul

Totally agree with the comments made regarding the improvements for the next event, its a fact of life to never be satisfied with the status quo ( god, can't believe I've said that) and adopt the Kaizan philosophy of continual improving to BE the best.

Like the suggestion's of actual naming the rooms used, also what about an schedule posted outside of each room listing who's spinning and time ( this would help a certain person who missed a request spot)

We are aiming to improve the "dekkas roots room " to the best " RnB, rare / underplayed room on the scene , as we are with the Manhattan club , the manifesto soul club and any other we get involved in , charity soul is starting to be warmed to by a minority of good , warm soulies , some great peeps to be exact , but there's a long way to go before we get accepted by the majority , our cause , to help find the cure of cancer , via the professor is spot on , we aren't like the big charities where the majority of the money raised goes on salaries , we aim to stay voluntary for as long as we can , so max funds will go to the prof , so we have to learn from Saturday , for me it was a fantastic event , great result , to meet new peeps who have travelled great lengths to DJ for us humbles me , so if I can make that room extra special for you guys then I will no probs , after a lengthy constructive chat with Dekka we decided between us the way forward for the roots room , and believe me there will be no stone unturned in the future to help make the roots room a fantastic room for you guys , so it's a massive " thanks " to all concerned and we all look forward to the 28 th in knottingley , at the old manifesto , the home of charity soul , so to all that reads this post , I / we hope you all have a merry Xmas and hopefully see you on the 28 th , so thanks again to all , atb Toc

Thanks everyone for your comments a lot of hard work goes on behind the scenes to make the event such a success.

Like everything in life you learn from your mistakes, and we have made a few, mostly with the roots room.

This has all been discussed and we will strive to put these things right.

I know its already been said but can I on behalf of charity soul give a massive thanks to all the djs your time and music sets are greatly appreciated and we couldn't raise the cash without you so a big pat on the back.

Also a big thanks to Little Dave for setting up the sound systems and having to come back on the sunday to take down. He also was disappointed with the system in the roots room and that's a priority. All being well we will have a new syatem in the next week so.

I guess the biggest thankyou is to you the people who turn up and pay your money and purchase raffle tickets (another hiccup we started selling too late, not next time )and but the merchandise. Thanks to Geoff for standing there all day and once again every penny goes to the prof.

So that's me done hope everyone enjoyed and will be back in jan, please pass on the word and lets get it rammed.

Cheers Tony
