Groovin' @ Grundy's Details

Hello Everyone,

GROOVIN' is back for it's Autumn session of across-the-board soul ...... guests are not yet fully confirmed so watch this space ....

If you fancy a rather pleasant afternoon, socialising with like-minded souls, drinking real ale ( there's bloody loads of them too!) and possibly indulging in a Sunday roast dinner (12pm - 4pm), then you know where you oughtta be..... things crank up from around 1pm 'ish and run thru to 8 / 9 pm 'ish and of course, it's free to get in.

Music policy will be all things soulful, with a little bit of everything ..... but not too much of any one thing .... at any one time!

Regulars .... Rob Kay, Dave Lucas and Kev Rodgers ....

So, we'd like you to join us for some soulful ear and foot refreshment in the very comfortable surroundings of Mr Grundy's ..... which happens to have it's own brewery on-site .... and if you don't fancy the chef-prepared Sunday Lunch, there's baguettes, chips and a range of other foods available too.

The next date will be Sunday 7th December.

If you've never been to Mr Grundys .... check out the links below ...

Good evening Groovers, hope you're all well and enjoying Summer's late flourish.

Anyway, to matters at hand, I was speaking with a friend at the weekend and he suggested that as Groovin' is a free event, why didn't we do something for charity? and I couldn't think of a single reason why we wouldn't. So we've decided to support one of the 'cancer charities', MacMillans or Cancer UK or possibly both or others perhaps, but we also wanted to make it more than just a raffle and/or voluntary contributions pot at the door.

It seems almost everyone has had their lives touched in some way or other by this dreadful disease, whether a close relative or a distant friend and we thought it would be nice to 'cock a snook' at cancer and instead, celebrate! Celebrate and remember, those who ought to be with us, but who no longer are. Celebrate, with those fortunate enough to have survived cancer, celebrate, with all the care givers and those still fighting back, with spirit and hope.

Groovin's still about the soul music, but it's also about us, all of us .....just ordinary people and some extraordinary one's too, so come and join us ....have a beer and a dance and a chat and a cry and Sunday Lunch if it takes your fancy and let's celebrate life.

Hope to see lots of you on the 5th October ..... bring your friends!!

Take care,

Kev

Looks like we're finally coming to the end of Summer's late flourish with rain due tomorrow (Sat) and autumnal temperatures thereafter ..... however, Sunday promises to be dry, well, at least, that's what the BBC weather forecast says!
And, why do I mention the weather you might ask? I'm glad you asked me that .... it's because it means it will nice & dry for .... Groovin' ..... which, if you've seen the previous posts you'll know is this Sunday.

Well, we now have a veritable cornucopia of DJ's for your delight and delectation this Sunday, appearing sometime between 1 pm & 8 pm-ish at Grundy's ......in no particular order, are .......

Franc Giacobbe
DenMac
Andy MacIntyre (sorry if that's the wrong spelling for McIntyre?)
Dave Lucas
Mick Smith
Rob Kay
Kev Rodgers

Take care, Kev

Just wanted to say a very big thank you to all those that came along to Grundys yesterday ..... a slow start, turned in to a stonking afternoon and evening .... and we were treated to some stupendous soul music from our guest DJ's ....and another VERY BIG THANK YOU ..... to all those that put their hand in their pocket for our charity collection for cancer related charities ..... your genorousity produced £150 ...... thank you very much indeed.

I've got the playlists to type up ... so look out for them too.

Cheers, Kev

PS - The next one's on Sun December 7th!
