That's a proper grrrreat line up Mr Foster!.... a cast iron guarantee of excellent records. I reckon this'll be a real good 'un. Wild horses wouldn't stop me and my Clare from coming down.

Route 61 is going from strength to strength, and for me it's pretty much my favourite soul night.

See you there chaps.

Hello All

Hope you all have a banging night at "The Route", as has been said earlier this great do of Steve's is getting better month on month. It's a true saying "You only get out what you put in" and Steve epitomises that with his infectious kind manner and making each and everyone who attends feel special including myself and Terry who love playing "The Route" and that won't change.

Finally, just to scotch the rumour mongers. I am not and have not packed up at "The Route". I don't know who started it or why and I'm not particularly bothered but believe me when I say "I'm not". Me and Steve go back a long time, I have the utmost respect for him and that will never change.

Enjoy your night and I'll see you all soon.

KTF

Hello all.

I am sorry I seem to have confused some of you, with Mopsey standing in this month, so to put things right I will explain,

With four of the regulars having birthdays this month including Mopsey he asked me if he could do a spot so he could play records for the said people that's why I put him on the flyer as resident,

I hope you all understand that brief explanation.

please pass it on to your friends thankyou !!!

I can second that Ian & I have been friends for a long time & that he has not packed up at Route61 !!!

I hope you all understand that

Maybe the confusion has come because Ian has previous bookings which he has to honour,

So the line up looks like this for 26th September Guest DJ Karen Dodd Megeary ~ Steve Foster ~ Tezza ~ Mopsey

Hope to see you all there for some superb soul sets from us all not forgetting the great atmosphere & people in such a lovely club,

See you all on the night.

Steve.    ktf.

Another magic night at 61! This place just gets better and better. Steve, you're turning this place into something really really special. Me and Clare just love it to bits.

The DJs last night really pulled out all the stops and the tunes just kept coming and coming - right up my street, some known, some less known and some proper obscurities!

Terry pulled some absolute monsters out of his box - highlight of the night for me!...just cos the floor wasn't totally rammed early doors doesn't mean we weren't listening, just pacing ourselves!

And it just carried on and on, tune after the after tune. On behalf of us punters thanks to all four DJs for your fantastic taste!

See you in November for Johnny Vincent!

Love Steve and love this place.  It's a pity more people can't get along because I am sure that once they've tasted it they will be back for more.  Friday night is always a bit slow but still the faithful turn up and a few new faces which is always nice.  A great night and a special mention to Karren who played a blinding spot.  No event in October but back with a bang in November with the fabulous Mr John Vincent, along with us regulars.  Also celebrating Steves 110th Birthday so come along and help us celebrate with him and listen to some quality music at the same time.  See you there then XXX

Many thanks to all the regulars & the plenty of new faces that gave us their support on Friday at Route61 you are a such a wonderful set of friends who go along way to making Route61 so good !

Thank you to our guest DJ Karen Dodd Megeary aka Betty Bump she played a tremendous set & a couple of records that were memory shakers for me of the King Mojo Club in the 60s !

Thank you also to Mopsey who stood in for Ian Gee & gave us a super spot ! Ian of course will be back with us in December,

Thank you also to Resident DJ Tezza who always comes up with some goodies & massive floor filler in demanders to make his spot stand out so well !

I was told my own contribution was quite good too, so thank you to all that gave their comments on that !

Thank you also to my daughter Lisa sitting on the door !

I wish you all well & see you out & about ! don't forget we are not there in October !

I still have some tickets left £30 each full weekend for October at the Grosvenor Hotel reunion of the original Skegness weekender, with a great line up of DJs.

See you back at Route61 in November !!!

Well a very good evening everybody,

I was tempted to do one of my usual write ups about Friday's "Route 61" event but so much has already been said that i fear i would be going over the same ground once more, so here and perhaps for once only is a very condensed version of the night.

So simply to echo what has already been said, but for those of you who haven't been before The Niagara Conference & Leisure Centre is a great venue and with the added bonus of abudent free outside parking making a pleasent change from having to find a parking space then have a 10 minute walk to get to your event and a massive plus form making it so much easier unloading DJ'ing equipment, carring record cases and even more importanly if you've danced your feet off the hobble back to the car.

So keeping this post to a minimum, while getting there when the night was pretty much in full swing (as my time keeping or lack of it is legendry) the large wooden dance floor was busy with a good number of dancers pounding the floor and numbers only grew through the night and for the perspective of a newcomer "Route 61" has a very large perportion of dancers and you could honestly say "it's very much a dancers club" and all DJ's on the night payed full attention to this fact and catered accordingly to it, and i must remember to say a decent numbers of people there.

So here is a somewhat lesser take on the night than normal and from where i joined the procedings!

Tezza, delieved a strong old school set in a soild no frills manner and played well and truley to the dance floor with "one or two snap, crackle and pops along the way" but hey this is magic of  REAL VINYL and from records that are often nearing their half century i kinda like and enjoy the feel of it but a good performance by him and as the saying goes "the dance floor doesen't lie" Tezza you gave a class selection of up-tempo dancing tunes and the floor obliged.

Then enter birthday boy Mopsey, were the years finally starting to take toll on "The King Of The 100 MPH Stomper"? from a pretty pedestrian start of club classics where the fastest paced disc was The Peoples Choice "Savin' My Loving" but then the old Mopsey was to return and here he reverted back to his old self and the tempo and volume were turned up a notch (or two) and perhaps giving one of the best spots that i have heard him perform, happy birthday!

Making a quick leap from soul attired dancer to DJ was Karren Dodd Megeary, aka "Betty Bump" with a very much an across the board set from Top 500 main stays to killer oldies and and just a few hard hitters and Karren gaving perhaps one the best introductions to a record you're likely to hear in a long time,

"Here's a song about something very dear to my heart".....then the came the thumping beat of "SHOES" by Bobby Bland, classic!

Finishing the night was Steve Foster, who took the helm and brought the night to an impressive end by keeping the musical theme and playing out with a steady selection of Northern Soul golden sounds, a cool and well delieved set from a man with a very decent microphone manner who truely enthused about his passion for the music and gave a brief insight into what these records ment to him.

So just a few thing to mention before i sign off for the night, i had a great time at "Route 61" and look forwad to the next one, a special mention to my good friends Dave "Woody" Wood and the lovely Sue for the pleasure of their company and of course to everyone on the night who helped make it.

Russ that's a fab write up for a really great night, I thank you sincerely as it made my dad (Steve Foster) feel really good that he's got something right for all to enjoy.  I always look forward to seeing the regular crowd and the new people make it an even better night.  Keep coming along and bring your friends it's a great clean venue (toilets I mean, as some are to be desired) and great dj's.  Although some might say I am a little biased as one is my dad :)   I may not dance much but I love to watch the ones that do, you are all very talented and I wish I had your energy and stamina to join in lol, although I do a little sometimes.

I'll not know what to do with myself in October, roll on the next one in November.  See you all soon Lisa xxxx
