My overall view was ,yes attendance was low but theres just been so much on everywhere over the last few weeks ie butlins ,grand central, benalmadena , folks only have so much money to spend . as for advertising flyers were sent out everywhere and the info had been on soul source since last years event ,nearly 12 months .... i believe that out there is a unit of al kaieda soul terrorists  as i was informed 2 batches of flyers had been binned by other promoters.the only people who complained to me personally are folks ive never met before or seen before in  over 45 years plus of being involved in northern soul.  i just wish the moaners   would put there hands in the own pockets and promote events .... they may then see just how hard it is at the moment ... there again there is a very very old saying , empty vessels always make the most noise .... and i believe its the empty vessells who complain about many venues i.e. kings hall ,blackpool, whitby, prestatyn ,etc etc etc ...my final  word on this event is if the complainers can do it better get youre hands in youre pockets and do so .... heres to sept 2016  .... cheers snowy ....ps yes all the dj,s got paid .... so come on moaners and show us all that you can do better ....thanks to the folks who supported enjoyed and cheered at the end of the event on sunday evening thanks to all

Hi everyone,

I have to admit numbers were not as expected for the 2nd oldies reunion, but its already been said there is so much on in these days which makes it hard for a venue to be as it used to be, but i have every confidence in Dave & Snowy that next year will be back to just that !

Never the less for me it was great to be amongst friends you don't see very often, i was determined i was going to enjoy myself which i did i made the most of it !

As a DJ i played from the heart what i thought people wanted to hear the oldies we used to play when it first began in 1998 & hopefully dance to which some of you did (thank you) ! i also played request subject to availability trying to create an atmosphere !

I am looking forward to 2016 for which i have booked my room before leaving for home.

So come on guys lets all get back behind the promoters for this fabulous venue & take it back to the days of old !

The Grosvenor Hotel is a great venue & is a great place to stay so book yr rooms !

Love to everyone !

Steve.    KTF.

I have to agree with you Marianne in giving this event just a two star rating and with most of your comments.

The words on everyone's lips that my wife and I spoke to were : ' where is everyone; it has not been advertised; where were the flyers; why was there not more information on Soul Source ie. start times, dj times?' and when we got to the venue there was very little information available. The printed sheet we picked up only had the information for Friday night and Saturday afternoon and evening with nothing about Sunday (details announced on Saturday evening) or the fact that the Vault was actually open at certain times. We only found out about the Vault en route for coffee in the Grosvenor House Hotel lounge about 11pm on Friday. We looked in but only three or four people in there. Upstairs wasn't doing much better, doubt that there were 100 people there on Friday night, less than 50 on Saturday afternoon and maybe 150 on Saturday night. Certainly not the numbers expected. The music was up and down, and what was the music policy for the Vault, no-one seemed to know. Some djs played brilliant sets to near empty rooms and others did look bored at times.

Sunday afternoon was strange, a few determined people stuck it out in the Vault, running the gauntlet of a busy hotel dining room to get a drink as the Vault bar was not open. We felt as if we were second class citizens getting in the way of the paying customers, shoved into a back room, but hang on a minute we paid £30 each for the priveledge! The best time for us personally was Sunday evening in the Vault when the djs asked for and played requests. There were people at all the tables and someone on the dance floor most of the time, AND the bar was open and the staff friendly and helpful, just like a good soul night should be but how many people had already given up and gone home?

It is supposed to be better next year because Grand Central will be no more so everyone will come back to the Grosvenor. Wishfull thinking maybe! The Skegness Weekender will never be the same, too many people called it a day after the move from the Grosvenor to Grand Central to get it back, but with better publicity, better planning, cheaper bar prices, accommodation deals in the refurbished Grosvenor House Hotel it might just happen. We have optimistically booked our B & B for next September. Here's hoping!!!!!! We remember the good old days when the ballroom was packed on an evening and Sunday afternoon was party time so we do know what we are talking about.

I had a feeling it was going to be a bad turn out as was very very poorly advertised and my feeling was right.

ON THE FIRST NIGHT.

The organisers = not at all interested in what anyone had to say regarding their lack of advertising  . DJ's = fed up and who can blame them and their music reflected on this .....I do wonder if the poor guys got paid at the end , I very much doubt it.

SATURDAY NIGHT

i haven't a clue how many was there but no more than 15 people at any given time was on the dance floor .

bar staff were sent home as not enough work to warrant payment.

Organisers must listen to what people have to say . We all love and want to be apart of the same thing and that's NS .....you will only get out , what you put in and on this occasion SORRY organisers but you just didn't put in . We made it a good weekend us four ladies as we had been looking forward to it for so long .  I would be very interested to see what other people thought , if you dare .

Looked on above mentioned web site and cannot see any information about the Grosvenor House Hotel Reunion Weekender in October so wonder is it still going ahead? There has not been any more information on this thread so rather puzzling.
