BANBURY SC- DAVE GREET & PETER HIGSON & STEVE RAY Details

?do=embed' frameborder='0' data-embedContent>

Hi everyone and welcome to the next Banbury Soul Club event of 2015.
Saturday 7th March 2015 - 8pm to 1 am

PLEASE NOTE THE CHANGE OF VENUE

The Trades & Labour Club
32 West Bar Street
Banbury
Oxfordshire
OX16 9RR

Pay on the door is still only £5.00.

After our first event at this new venue we listened to all the feedback.
It was overwhelmingly positive.
The only minor criticism was lack of dance floor space.
But that has been rectified as the Club management will allow us to move the tables surrounding the dance floor area.
So there should be enough space for everyone to enjoy the night, in what will now be our permanent home.

As a reminder of the advantages of this new location.
Free car parking right next door, realistic bar at Labour club prices and most importantly it has a wooden dance floor with a raised stage and the acoustics are brilliant.
Another plus is it’s all on ground floor level with no stairs to contend with.

Anyway onto the night itself.
As usual we continue with our policy of at least two guest DJ's, which helps keep the music fresh and exciting.
We are very pleased to welcome three Banbury Soul Club virgins as our guest DJ’s on Saturday 7th March.
The DJ’s for the night are Peter Higson, Steve Ray and Dave Greet.

Peter and Steve are building up a good reputation at Oxford Soul Club where they are the resident double deckers.
And they will be double decking again on this night.
They also play other local venues where their choice of soulful dance music enhances their growing reputation.

And what can I say about Dave Greet.
A scene stalwart for over 40 years and a lifelong friend.
An original Yate DJ with an ovo collection to die for.
He has played out extensively in the UK including Boomerang Soul Club, Vava Voom and Hitsville Weekender in Spain.
If you want a short biography just click the link.

So I’m sure our three guests will complement each other with their soul selections.
In summary this will genuinely be a “something for everyone” evening.
So make sure you come along and enjoy a superb soulful night’s entertainment for only £5.

The guest DJ’s will be supported by the Club residents, all long term collectors.
Charlie, Steve and Tom playing their own choices of danceable soul music to guarantee a brilliant night.

Anyway we all hope to see you all on Saturday 7th March 2015.
Admission is just £5.

For all SatNav users the full address as below.
Saturday 7th March 2015 - 8pm - 1am.

3 new DJ's to our event on its 2nd outing.

The 1st at the new venue of Banbury T&L Club was just amazing really.

The atmosphere was electric.   We all finally relaxed as this event got going.

We will be fully relaxed from the start of this one knowing we have found our new HOME.

Looking forward to seeing all the faces from last time and lots of new ones.

You will NOT be disappointed with what you get - all round.

Get yourselves along to party hard !

Cheers......................             Tom.

Second installment at the new venue folks.  Like to welcome Dave Greet "Greety".   This man has a faboulous record collection and the knowledge to go with it.  Very much looking forward to his set.  First time for Dave to spin some tunes in Banbury!

Also, luckily enough to have Steve Ray and Pete Higson.    Who will be doing a cracking double decking set for us.  All our guests on the night.  DJ's in their own right, and the records to go with it.

The night as you know, runs from 8.00 to 1.00.  Still five nugets on the door.

Hope to see you all on the night.

Cheers for now.

Just a quick direction guide folks.  Drive straight into Banbury town centre.  Look for Banbury Cross.  Take the B4035 two minutes away.  The venue is just past the Horse and Jockey Pub on the right.  Banbury Trades & Labour Club is a big white building.  Car park to the side of the building.  Use the car park entrance to get into Club.

Look forward to seeing you on the night folks.

We're all looking forward to the night.

Great nite again at our new venue.   DJ's Pete & Steve know what it's about. Got 'em dancing early on.

Good attendance even tho' prob 50 "do's" on last night everywhere.

Dave "Greety" Greet rocked it up for our main hour guest DJ spot.

Still recovering today really from one of the best sets I have heard played out anywhere in recent times.

You had to be there to believe what was playing.  I didn't know some and I'm sure others didn't either.

BUT they were so good and matched-in to perfection it didn't matter - they worked.

Travellers aplenty and you know how much WE appreciate your efforts.

We'll be back on Sat May 2nd.    Same successful formula to be expected.

See you all again then.

Cheers............................              Tom.

A brilliant night.

Thanks to everyone who came and supported Banbury Soul Club.

It is genuinely appreciated.

Without you there would be no club.

Greety always delivers quality.

And last night was no exception.

I'm hoping he'll put up a play list.

But a few I recall which shows the standard of rare soul played included the Notations, Billy Kennedy,Bitter and the Sweet ,Chuck Holiday and Detroit Sounds Of Friction.

Thanks again and see you all on the first Saturday of May.

I missed the first one but very pleased to have made it to last night. Very friendly atmosphere, the venue works really well, and as Tom and Tabs have said, some great music being played.

Just another brilliant night at Banbury again.  Musically 'top drawer'.

Peter and Steve did a cracking double decking set, pulling out some great tunes.  Dave Greet 'Greety' - just brilliant, loved it!

Looking forward to the next one - Saturday 2 May.

Thanks for attending everybody.  A really good turn out again, considering what was on around on the scene.

Hi Guys,

first time for us at Banbury, really enjoyed it. Great spots from all DJ's, nice friendly atmosphere, really well attended & a brilliant venue  . Raised stage, bar at the back of the room with a massive wooden dance floor in between, loads of seating, hey & the bar price's were extremely cheap :P.

We shall return, thanks for great night, Woody & Sue :hatsoff2::wave:

Woody & Sue; so pleased that you had a great Soul Nite with us all especially because you made the effort to travel out of Town.

With eleven and a half years of Banbury Soul Club behind us, we know what punters expect and we put a lot of effort into every aspect of what we do to deliver a "polished" event.

Thank you so much for your very kind comments.

Cheers..................       Tom, Steve, Charlie, Tabs & Terry.

First post I have made to SS in a while..but wanted to echo what Woody said.  We really enjoyed our night at Banbury.   We try to get out as much as we can and been meaning to call in here for a long time.  What a great crowd, great sounds and very busy dancefloor - loved it!

Can't say for sure when we will be able to be back...but we will be!

Sue  :)
