Hi Folks,

I've just about caught my breath following the last event...wow!

I won't repeat the write up (it's on last month's events pages if you want to take a peek) but what a belting night it was.

We are back again on Saturday 22nd August (the weekend before the Bank Holiday) and if July was any form of guide it'll be busy...remember, the early bird gets a worm, a seat and a discounted entry to just £4.00 prior to 9.30pm.

Our special guest is billed as Yocky (who as you'll no doubt know has both sublime taste and a collection to drool over).  However due to unforeseen circumstances Yocky and Mandy won't be able to join us, though rest assured Yocky will be gracing the decks again just as soon as we can juggle a spot for him.

We do however have the pleasure of advising you that in Yocky's place we have secured the services of another superb DJ, a respected promoter and an all round good guy in the shape of Mike Leicester.  Mike's name will be familiar to many of you as he's co-promoted the hugely successful monthly events at the Labour Club in Denton (Manchester) for many years and, amongst a plethora of other headline spots he has been a regular at the very successful events at The Morg in Northwich.

Mike's been collecting for years.  He knows his stuff, has great taste and a blinding collection...and like all the top jocks he plays off original vinyl only.  Your tastebuds will be tingling, your eardrums will be reverberating, your toes will be tapping and your poor feet will be aching by the time Mike's worked his magic...and all of it will be original format, top drawer magic records.  I'd call him Magic Mike, but if you google Magic Mike you end up with results that aren't exactly Northern Soul (though I believe there may be reference to a 7"er...).

If you can pop along to support the event and Mike's inaugural Northern Line set then we'd love to see you...I'm sure that you'll have a great night!

See you soon.

Chris

Really looking forward to this Saturdays event at the Alford Hall in Warrington. As Chris says unfortunately our advertised guest YOCKY cant be with us for this one, but he will be back very shortly. We have though managed to obtain the services of Dentons very own Mike Leicester who plays to the floor and will be just what our regulars are used to.

Moz is back for this one alongside Ben Moses, Chris and myself..

So if you haven't tried us yet why not pop along and dance to a great collection of Classic Northern Soul music complimented with a few  things to keep it fresh.

Hopefully we will see some of you there.

Biff

A massive thank you once again for everyone who turned out for last nights Northern Line in Warrington. Yet again the numbers were up and most staying right up to the last record. A full dancefloor tells its own story. Great turn outs from Widnes, Wigan, Chesterfield and Stoke to name just a few places. Unfortunately our billed guest DJ Yocky couldn't be with us for this one so many thanks to Dentons very own Mike Leicester for filling in at the last minute. Mike played a varied mix of stuff some classics mixed with some even I had never heard. Top spots from Ben, Moz and Chris as always and I filled in the gaps. Yocky will be back with us as soon as we can arrange a date for next year. The next one at the Alford is 26th September with St Helens Soul club main man Chisser as our guest hopefully we will see some of you again for another great night.

Just a quick note to reiterate John's comments...

Firstly a massive "Thank You" for the support you gave the event and for making the most of the reduced door tax up to 9:30.  With the room 3/4 full by around 9:00 and the dancers giving the floor a workout from early on the signs were that it'd be a great night.  Without your support there is no Northern Line, and we are genuinely grateful that you chose to pay us a visit given the large number of events from which you can choose.

Young Ben Moses is really making that first spot his own and he gave us old timers a real run for our money!  Congratulations too Ben on your A Level results...brains and great musical taste rolled into one make Ben one to watch for the future and he and Moz produced a great last spot playing deck-for-deck with the floor rammed for the last 45 minutes of the night.

Our guest was Denton's own Mike Leicester and Mike produced a great set (and at short notice too), more than ably standing in for Yockie who will be with us as soon as we can work him into the guest roster.  Mike gave us a mix of classics, dancers, 6Ts and 7Ts and threw in a few curve balls that I'd never heard before which have now found their way onto my every growing 'wants list'.  The guest spot is an opportunity to give us a bit of what we want and a few things we've perhaps never heard before or haven't heard recently.  In this respect  Mike really delivered and for the handful of 45s that didn't pack the floor there was a lot of chin-stroking with people desperately trying to catch the name of the artist and make note of it for future eBay trawls.  I'll keep the name of the instrumental track under my hat for the time being...until I've found a copy!

As ever Biff and Moz can be relied upon to judge the mood and duly delivered...so feel free to blame them for any sore feet, blisters etc that you might have today.

Once again, thank you for your support and we hope to see you all again in a month's time.

Chris
