Darnall Horti Soul Club Details

Ok folks, details are in for our first night of 2015. We ended 2014 on one hell of a night, I still haven't come down. For 2015, we welcome Bri Pinches as a new member of the residents squad. He will bring even more quality tunage. Great to have you aboard mate. We also welcome Derek White as our first special guest of the year.

Little Av has asked if she can run a raffle on the night on behalf of the Jack Kitching Appeal. It'll be our pleasure, so if you have any leftover Christmas goodies, apart from Turkey carcasses, of course, please bring them along.

It'll be the usual format of rare and underplayed tunes, and some not so rare, of any genre, kicking off around 8.00pm and ending around 1.30am. See you there.

Don't forget my retirement and birthday special on the 9th :thumbup: also at the Horti. We have a number of DJs playing anything they want - mainly soulful, with pop, reggae and whatever else they fancy. Also, it's Gary's Birthday and several others', no doubt.

Roll on Friday.....So looking forward to hearing guest DJ Derek White plus the residents spinning the tunes this Friday. If you've not been before, get yourselves along to this 100% quality soul night this Friday 16th January.

Many thanks also to the Horti guys for allowing me to run a raffle for the Jack Kitching Appeal. After raising £809 at Horse & Groom in August and December last year, we're running this raffle before handing over the total money to Jack's family. Any donations of raffle prizes greatly appreciated. Hope to see you Friday, safe journey  xx

Roll on tonight. Back in the saddle and looking forward to a great night out at my favourite soul night. May have Mr Dyson in tow too, if i can dig him out of his burrow  :wicked: So bring your spondoolees and if he doesn't show you can always buy more raffle tickets to support the Jack Kitchen appeal.

Another blinder tonight and completely left field unexpected swing towards 70's soul and two step interspersed with many different styles from early 60ts thru to new releases. Long may the Horti reign and continue to delight. Company weren't bad either.

Thank you all for the great comments. Yes, it was another belter of a night. The spotty newcomer did well enough , and Derek's set was brilliant. We had a terrific turnout and top atmosphere again. We seem to have reached a new level, with more and more people coming back who clearly appreciate our music policy and the wide variety, and excellent quality, of tunes it demands. May I express our gratitude to the wealth of seriously good collectors and DJs who have helped build our reputation, and to those stalwarts who have supported us from day one. And, thank you all for raising £276 towards the Jack Kitching Appeal. The generosity of soulies comes to the fore yet again. Brilliant :-)

What a fantastic night was had by all at Horti last night. So glad this place is getting the crowds in the promoters deserve, along with a great atmosphere. Blinding spots from Guest DJ Derek White and the residents, who treat us a night of quality across the board soul music. Be good to see some playlists if possible.

Thanks also to the residents John Moffatt, Gary Smith, Alan Millington and their new apprentice, Brian Pinches for allowing us to run a raffle for the Jack ...Kitching Appeal. £276 was raised on the night from the sale of raffle tickets, DJ fees donated by Derek White and Mark Etheridge (from last month), and a record sale. This has now been added to the amount raised at Horse & Groom (£809) and a donation from Mick Waddington to round the total figure raised from all events to a whopping £1100. Thanks to everyone who has contributed to raising this amount from either donating prizes, purchasing tickets or assisting with the selling of raffle tickets etc. This money will go a long way in making Jack’s life more comfortable. We will be posting photos on here within the next few weeks when we hand over the cash to Jack’s family.

Once again huge thanks everyone.

Av

xx
