Just seen, had many good nights there, a building and dance floor made for a northern soul venue. Nice to see Dale involved,he and his family worked tirelessly at the Riley Smith Hall and the North Yorkshire Soul Club. We WILL be making a return, Mandy & Alan

Watching this with interest  .

Had many a fantastic night at the Riley Smith Hall over the 4 years with the North Yorkshire Soul Club either as behind the decks or as a punter - didn't miss many. Its a great venue for northern soul and when busy, the atmosphere is absolutely magical - the downstairs ballroom has one of the great Yorkshire dance floors so good to see its back on the calendar with two alldayers this year and includes the upstairs rarer room, hosted by original promoter Dale.

One request please, can the upstairs bar open otherwise it's a trek and the upstairs rare/ underplayed room could lose a bit of its momentum .

Thank you kindly Andy.

Yes, i agree 100%. Will speak to the venue staff and request at least a bottle bar as i am not sure if they are set up for draught in that area. Will check of course!

Joining us upstairs I'm pleased to have Azza Adams from Driving beat and Empty Bottles Leeds with us a great addition to an already fabulous line up..

Great to see an original vinyl only policy for both rooms, in my opinion this brings out the personality of the DJ's rather than the boot leg Bob's playing as if from a cd track listing.

Deffo going to make a date for one if not all these events, a great venue which deserves to be run by the right people and the right people are running it

good luck

I remember doing a warm up session in the club down the road when a lady from the tap room came up to me and ask if I did weddings as her daughter was soon to be married, I wasn't quite sure how to take that   so I humbly offered my apologies and said I hadn't been doing this kind of thing for very long :D

Small but powerful in the loose, excellent at getting to the bar first, second to none for supporting play, quite good at dancin' round the opposition

Liam Taylor when are you going to payback all the ticket money you stole from soulies for the Plymouth all nighter and that nearly had to be cancelled because you bailed on it ?

I have just come off the phone from Dale Byers who is at this moment away, and would like to say that he is /was in no way connected to this event in any financial capacity. Dale advises he will contact all dj's personally on his return.  He is as shocked as the rest of us at this turn of events.

So what IS the actual situation ATMIT regarding the all-dayer?

Is the event still viable? What happens with tickets already purchased?l Has the constabulary been informed as this appears from the link:

to be an on-going scam. B*****D

Thats right Hugh, he was,nt interested in the Riley Hall anymore after he,s own soul nights a few years back, the promoter got in touch with Dale to run and organize the rare room upstairs, looks like we,ve all been suckered !

Liam is a total scammer..he's ripped off good people in Plymouth and Chester.. Tadcaster was next. Sold As Soul is merely a vehicle to finance the scummy little twat's seedy lifestyle. .The Plymouth nighters gone ahead tonight despite this but only because the dedicated soul family down here got together to pay off nearly a grands worth of debt he'd left promoter Lee Vowles in. The advance tickets sales of around £400 have disappeared along with Mr Taylor. He is totally discredited with a westcountry fatwah on his head.

"An update on the dealings of Liam Taylor. This is now a police matter, if you have

i) lost any money due to purchase of tickets for any events connected with him

ii) you are a promoter who has lost money

iii) if you have made accomodation payments

you need to go on line and contact actionfraud.police.uk

or you can ring action fraud on 0300 123 2040
crime ref number 150601062720

The more of you that contact, the more they have to pin on him"
