Just over 3 weeks before this new venue begins, it's a great room, ideal for what we intend on doing, playin' quality underplayed and rare northern soul from the 60's & 70's, we will be looking for guest DJ's who are not afraid to play records (OVO) that other DJ's will not play for fear of clearing a floor, our first main guest DJ is Mark Steadman, local Derby lad who has a fantastic collection and is very well respected, next month sees Frank Giacobbe behind the decks spinnin' his great taste of soul, again another well known and highly respected soulman.

So those of you who want to hear some quality and enjoy the company of like minded soul people get yourself over to Derby on the 27th June.

well blow me down, in fact knock me over with a stick of rhubarb, it's off we go to Derby for the 1st time in blinkin' years, we usually get lost in Derby, altho' we used to find Hector from selecter's record shop back in the days ( R.E.Cords)??/ why, he never sold cords, just records, so never got the gist of the name, the strange world of baggy cloths me-thinks,, if we get lost, look out for distress flares not flairs :hypo:.....see you ALL soon, Rob

Just over a week to go, underplayed and rare the order of the day, with Mark Steadman our first main guest DJ you are sure to hear quality, Taz been picking up some more quality sounds from the Cleepthorpes W/E and ready to entertain, John May be missing from this first nite, Bridlington W/E, but be back in July with his fine collection of tunes.

Sticks of rhubarb, cords, baggy cloths and flairs  will only be allowed in if accompanied with a responsible adult :P

What a cracking night in the offering, where else in the East Midlands, can you hear the likes of : The Specials - I can't find her, Art Benton - sweet lovin, the objectives - love went away, Tommy tucker - that's how much, Nick Allen - Hard way to go, Mighty Joe young - Suffering soul,  the Spindels - To Make you mine. Rosetta Johnson - That Hurts, Bob Collins - My one and only Girl. and so much more. Fed up with the same old same old, this is the place for you.

Plenty of quality sounds to come over the coming months with the likes of Monique - If You Love Me, Chance & Tony - Pretty Baby, Talmadge Armstrong - Gigi, Rockmasters - Raining Teardrops, George Freeman - Down And Out, Jack Montgomery - Don't Turn Your Back On Me, The Creations - What's Gonna Happen, Vontastics - I'll Never Say Goodbye, The Dramatics - Toy Soldier, Sam Fletcher - I'd Think It Over, Kell Osborne - Quicksand, all top draw soul on OVO, as John say's no other venue in the East Midlands plays anywhere near the sounds like those listed, along with the rare and underplayed 45's listed will be R&B/Popcorn with the likes of Johnny Hunter - If The Things In My Room Could Talk, The Antennas - Be Yourself, Marilyn Powell - Please Go Away, Marie Knight - Come On Baby, Leon Peterson - Searching.

Record dealers welcome, please contact us first to book your space, (no tack sellers with there mugs, vests and other crap will be allowed !), we will be looking for DJ's with good quality OVO to get up and spin 45's with SOUL, if you think on the same lines as D-Town Soul approach us and let us know.

Yes one of life's great dilemmas, how to be in two places at the same time, i'm sure i'll be getting updates during the night.  Knowing the DJ's who'll be spinning on Saturday, and the tunes they have, it's going to be like Soul heaven, top quality all the way. And Rob with his Rhubarb lol.

Free D-Town CD for the first 40 through the doors, over 20 tunes from the 3 promoters.

Hopefully Hector (from Selector and Cleos) will be making a show on the nite, met him for the first time a few months ago and he is a total top bloke, full of information and a total legend round these parts.

Big thanks to everyone who attended our first nite at The Victory Club, Derby and to all the DJ's who played cracking sets , when your guest DJ, Mark Steadman, kicks off with Dusty Wilson then you know your in for a hour of pure soulful bliss.

As Rob say's not all people want to hear the same old same old being played week in week out, there is other great soul sounds out there, we will bring in the DJ's who are prepared to spin them.

Glad i made the decision to do Bridlington on Friday, then come back for this event on Saturday night, Seagulls still ringing in my ears.  Really proud to have been part of this first night, so many positives, Great music, knowledgeable crowd, perfect venue.  thoughts now move onto the next event on July 24th ( Friday ).  For those who couldn't make the first one, but love the underplayed rarer sounds with a hint of crossover thrown in, this is the place for you.

Was a pleasure to be awarded the guest spot at this totally new venue, can only see it going from strength to strength so be part of THE NEW D-TOWN SOUL MOVEMENT and tell others you were there when it all started . Underplayed / rare 6ts 7ts soul with 7ts bar prices, great acoustic sound, great dance floor and assume 200 people capacity? Already looking forward to next event.   Steady.
