As the above two eminent 'diarist' have stated it was really heartwarming to see the 'soulies' from near and far turning out on the coldest (believe me, stood on the door freezin' me rocks off) night of the year to support our fundraising efforts. Your presence in spite of the most difficult conditions, some people from North Yorks making megga detours to avoid the snow, in order to make a physical contribution speaks highly for your commitment to the cause of Charity Soul.

The night itself was a RESOUNDING SUCCESS, its always difficult to replicate the initial brilliant May all-dayer here, but IMHO I think we managed to achieve as good, if not better event. As DEKKA/Andy states a BIG BIG thank you to all the Admin./Bar/Security staff  who went out of their way to assist, help and guide the soulies around the venue.

All the dj's gave brilliant professional sets, with the reward of seeing dance floors full in all the rooms, the Motown room with 'Scotty' being a WOW with the Ladies, the TOCMIESTER set the tone in the Northern Room stating at the start of his set".....................right this is as slow as its gonna get to nite"............ and kicked off with Little Richard's  "Get Down With It"   lol

As the inimitable legend that is Mick Morgan (Morgie) would say "...............................a can't spake".

Wow where do I start , maybe a big thank you to Leeds rhinos / Yorkshire Carnegie and their staff for allowing us to host a event at their famous stadium , a bi...g thank you to all the DJs who gave us their time FOC , to play some fantastic sets and keep the dance floors busy all the time in all 4 rooms , but a massive THANK YOU to all who attended and supported us in freezing conditions , an absolutely tremendous turn out , not as busy as last time but we reckon we had over 500 people there , which is brilliant for a one day event so near to Christmas, and we can't declare just yet what the final total is as we have to wait for invoices for security etc , but I reckon we will have cleared £4000 , which is fantastic and will go direct to frontline cancer research , where it is needed , so if you was there then a massive thumbs up to you all , if you weren't there then you missed a belter , so watch this space for future dates at this iconic venue and many thanks again for your support , we look forward to seeing you all again , our next event is at the Manhattan club in Harrogate in jan , be nice to see you all there , if not then next year at Headingley stadium , for another dream event !!

As an aside, It would appear to me there is some sniping going on from another charity event promoter on the same night regarding and I quote " none of this profits bollox"

I find the belittling of hard working people for their own ends disgracefull, promoters of charity events throughout the country are in the quest of raising much needed monies and deserve all the encouragement and support as possible, to sink to the level of my charity is better that yours syndrome is an outrage.

Well despite the wind chill & sub zero temperatures  plus a multitude of other events, great numbers turned out .. some arriving before 4pm opening, many others still piling in at 9.30pm. 'Northern' room rammed, similarly the 'Motown'/Live Act' room, unfortunally never managed to sample the delights of the 'Modern' room  (but heard great comments). As expected spent most of the hours in 'Dekkas Roots Room'. Not as packed as the previous Rhinos event, but in fairness it was an even larger room than before, which could comfortably hold 300 plus.  Great crowd tho the majority of whom specifically coming for the Roots Room including  some nicely turned out mods and equally sharp dressers. Musically, (check out playlists  http://www.soul-source.co.uk/soulforum/topic/344778-play-list-‘dekka’s-roots-room’-charity-soul-uk-alldayer-21st/  ),   both riveting and refreshing with wide variety of 'mod' sounds ranging from Skip Robinson 'I just can't wait' to The Flames 'Broadway Junction' and Perry and the Harmonics 'Do the monkey with James'.  Nice to catch up with Simon Hunt & Paula Barker with the added bonus of their sales tables. Have to say each and everyone of the djs played outstanding sets - all very well received.

As for the overall event, very well organised, fantastic support with many travelling great distances. Professor Maitland was there answering questions about his remarkable cancer cure research. Most impressive, upmarket venue with pristine facilities and a credit to the generosity of Leeds Rhinos. Best of all seems like a shed load of money was raised again by Charity Soul Uk for the Professor and his team and everyone enjoying their music of choice across the four rooms.
Already looking forward to the next instalment - returning to The Manhattan Club, Harrogate on 23rd January 2016 for 3 room alldayer and 'Dekka's Roots Room' will be a 'Simon Hunt special' ! Details, http://www.soul-source.co.uk/soulforum/calendar/event/40900-charity-soul-uk-harrogate/

November is a sad month when we remember lost 'ones' in two world conflicts and also other loved one who have passed away far too early, this time is not lost on us at Charity Soul when we will channel all our efforts to our last great fundraising event of the year at Leeds Headingley Carnegie, to aid research work to find a cure for Prostate Cancer.

If you can find the time and want to give your support to this cause and you enjoy across the board soul music then this is the place to be. We have the backing of the Leeds Rhinos Foundation trust and all personnel at Headingley, Leeds City Magazine to help in this cause. Having personally lost a close buddy to Cancer, and seeing the suffering he went through, I'm fully committed to these efforts of all our UNPAID VOLUNTEER members of Charity Soul who work tirelessly to generate funds for Professor Maitland.

The all-dayer will commence from 4:00pm until 12:00pm, when we will endeavour to make this event the best 'dayer'  you've been to all year - watch out for the smartest dressed door staff/helpers/administrators/dj's on the soul scene

Dave - in sad reflective mood

Just to clarify the siting of the various room's at Headingley  Carnegie, ALL the rooms will be in one location of the Stadium, as opposed to last May when the Motown and live act was in the 'Long Bar' on an adjacent site to the three other rooms.

The locations are as follows:-

The Modern Room in the Legends suit. The Motown and Live act in the Executive Suite. The Northern Room will be in the Premier Suite and Dekka' Roots room will be in the Lewis Jones Suite.

Shame about Steve . One of the great  7ts and modern soul djs and of course forever remembered for the Cleethorpes Winter Gardens . An indemand DJ , top notch guy and it's no surprise he's upset he can't make this one but fab he's lined up for one of next year's Charity Soul UK events.

On the subject of time served legendary DJs , a real coup in getting 'Snowy' to guest in the 'northern' room - if classic dance floor northern soul is your thing, your in for a treat !

As the 'Lord of the Duckless -Duck Pond' says above, this event will soon be upon us, Leeds Rhino's Headingley estate team have pulled out all the stops, suggesting which rooms allocated to us would be suitable for each type of music genre. Charity Soul will be working non-stop to lay a fantastic, recently purchased dance floor oiled and polished for the best dancers in the UK. We have contacted ALL local media to advertise and publicize this event, a live act will be available in the motown room again, which, from reports from last May, went down a 'bomb. We have done all that is humanly possible to make this event as good as, or if not better than our inaugural  event.

All we need now is you, to support us in this worthwhile cause. as the TOCMIESTER says NONE of the Charity Soul team receive monetary rewards for our efforts, to see the 'soulies' enjoying themselves, plus the all profits made from the Charity events and subsequently donated to Professor Maitland, is our reward.

Well what a few days that's been, delivering dance floors, amps, decks etc etc to my favourite rugby ground, NOT, if I had to spend any more time  there I would have had to become a Leeds Rhinos season ticket holder (wash my mouth out with soap and water):(:(

The newly purchased American Beech sprung monster of a dance  floor will be laid this afternoon in the Northern Room (Premier Suite) and this floor is good enough to hold 'Strickly Come Dancin' Does Northern Soul' it's absolutely fantastic, and will be pleasure to dance on, TALC not needed unless you want to practice Ice Skating.

Time now to chill think out what to wear, whoops, sorry have to abide by strict  Charity Soul Corporate attire for this last special event:yes:

So folks the promoting this event  has reached the end, the time has come for you to get to Headingley on Saturday and support this worthwhile cause.

So the big day has arrived and all roads to lead to Headingley,

So just to reiterate how this all works,

Leeds Rhinos donate the 4 rooms for FREE.

ALL money taken on the door goes direct to the Professor (who by the way will be at the event tonight).

ALL people working behind the scenes including DJ's on the night are ALL volunteers and do it for FREE,

I applaud the valiant efforts of other events raising money for their chosen charity and donating ALL the monies to their charity choice, I just hope they know where their monies raised are going to. As I have said the Professor will be at this event as he does most other events of Charity Soul and will be happy to answer any questions regarding his research and his involvement with Charity Soul.

Wherever you go tonight stay safe and enjoy yourselves
