What a great night...

Many thanks to all that came Saturday was fabulous to see the old place bouncing again brought back some very fond memories.

We set the ball rolling at 7.00 by 7.30 there was already a steady flow and already a few on the floor 8.15 floor was filling up very nicely.

Had my eye on the main hall most of the night in and out from upstairs and all Dj's did a fantasic job, floor was well a go-go not going to pick anyone out but needless to say Harry put a very impressive line up together and deserves a pat on the back for that....(.well done mate)....

Upstairs room was my pick of Dj's and boy did they deliver...from the start Andy Hudson started us off with his own style of upbeat funk edged soul 45s, followed by Di Crosby. Unfortunatly didnt get to hear much of Di because of a few very minor issues downstairs but was told it was impressive.

Enter me old Taddy stalwarts in Mick and Mo, always a real pleasure having these two over and never fail imo great people and a real passion for their soul and did it show tonight some fabulous tunes...(that good i had to have a bit more saw and listened to them Sunday at Horse an Groom)...thankyou so much you two..

Another i very rarely see out and about but always great to bump into is Chic..heard this fella playing out a few times and another i just had to ask over to Tadcaster and well pleased he accepted. Two very fine sets from Chic the last few records played on the night he was playing and dancing along with myself and Jane....just great, thanks so much Chic....

The young un....Azza well absolutely loved these two sets he played, another with a stunning collection and put together very very well Azza another one i was highly delighted to have over never fails, just hope you never lost to much sleep putting those great 45s together as i didnt intentionally put you between Mick and Mo and Carl and Maria.... honest..Thanks Azz..fantastic..

We talk about stalwarts of Tadcaster here's two more....whenever i get involved in an event these two my first call up as most will have guessed by now... Carl and Maria..these very good friends gave me some of the best times at the original Middleton and ill be forever grateful something we often talk about and discuss..(miss that place). ...

Carl and Maria never fail, some very fine rare soul 45s and what we expect from C+M, plenty played myself and others not heard before which sent a few up to the decks for a nosey which is always a great sign and great to see...two great sets from two of the very best...

A massive thankyou to you both for coming over and for ALL my requests.lol..especially the acetate...

Dale.....

Well that was some night last night. Everybody involved pulled together to make it a brilliant night. Many thanks to all the dj`s who stepped up to the plate and delivered. Big thanks to Paul Dickinson, for all his efforts, supplying the sound for the venue. The bar staff, who had a really busy night, of course the door girls Maz & Kirsty for there hard work, and last but not least the staff at the riley smith hall. It`s the first time Dale and myself have promoted a venue, we both worked very hard to get this together after the Liam Taylor fiasco, and it went smoothly with no hitches at all. Dales rare and underplayed room went down fantastic as always, it was bound to with a dj line up like that in there. Last but not least a big thanks to all the attendees who came through the door and made the riley smith hall what it was last night. A HUGE SUCCESS!!!.

Unable to make this one as I'm otherwise engaged, however, hoping to make the future ones and I do hope there are future ones as this deserves to be one of the foremost events in the North.

Hi Dekka, sorry you can`t make this one, there will be future events. We are doing this due to messages by people asking us to put it on, after the Liam Taylor Fiasco, so plenty of interest, should be a good night.

Don`t really know if anyone caught up with him Sammy, I`m a great believer in what goes round, comes round, his day will come mate. They always get caught up with in the end. Luckily we managed to stop his game before anyone lost money concerning his event at the Riley Smith Hall. Looking forward to seeing you and Stew mate.

Some great comment so far on this one im certainly looking forward to this now.

This has the makings of an exellent night with main hall all local dj's and very familiar names around the Soul scene in and around Yorkshire.

My Upstairs room we have some very well travelled Dj's/collectors all with exeptional taste and exeptional collections and all very well known and a real pleasure to have on all on the same night.

Sammy ....Liam sure had me fooled will have a good chat with you on the 8th regards this fella needless to say i never lost anything unlike the St Ives soulies.

Kev H....Sorry ya not with us Kev, some good times had, have a good time where ever your heading and see you about soon...

Harry as already asked, but if you do require sales table get in touch asap.....these will be situated in the main entrance..AND FREE..

HI DALE,

Shame I will not be able to make this one as the RSH clashes with another local venue, which is where my loyalties lie.

Would have loved to hear you, The Willinghams, my good friends Mick and Mo and of course our young un' bringing back memories of the little club across the road.

Have a good nite and hopefully may get to the next one on a free night.

regards ROY

Hi Roy, hope you have a good night, hopefully there will be no more clashes, I booked the date on here and at that time the calendar was free, it wasn`t intentional, and we wish anybody else who is on, on the same night, every success, with there event. And next time, we`ll try our best not to clash with other local promoters.

its nearly impossible not to clash with other events on any given night/day at the moment mate but the good one`s will survive if they give the peeps what they want ! am sure this will be one of them, see you sat boys and girls

like it dave, will have to put my dancing show on the back burner for the time being due to my knee again being not 2good again, will I see you and the girls at riley smith hall tadcaster on sat looks like its going to be a good un,not been before but been told it s a great venue!

Having to miss this one Sammy venturing into the 'wilderness' that is Devon for a short break, but still managing to go to a soul event, namely the all-dayer in Exeter, never had one here before.

Going with lots of female accompaniment ie her who must be obeyed, sister and indie, garage hip hop loving (now converted soulie) daughter, guess who will be digging deep into his pockets for lemonade:(

Take care what the knee and will probably see you at the central

Dave - practicing ooh aagh,me dears

Must be the white hair and flamboyant choice of shirts that attracts all the ladies to your company Dave!!!

Enjoy Devon and don't strut your stuff too much down there.

Sound check done, everything fine and dandy and ready to go.

Big thanks has to go to Paul Dickinson, who did a round trip of nearly 200 miles last night, picking up the Speakers for the event from my house. And then supplying the sound today at 10am. It`s people behind the scenes, that make these things happen. Big big thanks Paul for your time and effort-H

Hope this event turns out to be a 'cracker' for you Harry, after the recent debacle regarding Liam the Shite, you deserve all the success going.

Sorry to miss this one, especially as 'taddy' is a local to me a Cas lad, never been, hope you've plans for future envent's

p.s Roy, I thought is was my charm, elegance, joie de voir, and appreciation of the female of the species that attracted the ladies .................................evidently its not, just the SHITE SHIRTS !!!!

I think it will be a packer tonight? Unfortunately we wont be able to make it. Hopefully next the next one. My wife is working all day and it's a fair trip for us. Always liked this venue, especially the snack bar in the corner. Good luck with it tonight!

Best,

Ian

Cheers Harry,

I know the previous punters (Dale) used to run them bi-monthly or even every 3-months which I think is better? Too many events as it is. I think a night in for us and maybe catch the bus down to The Twisted Wheel in Manchester tomorrow (highly recommended if you are into old skool dirty soul)
