Another fine all-nighter at this magnificent venue, perfectly placed for easy travelling and superbly laid out inside the venue. Got there early at 10pm and the place was starting to fill up nicely. Our time was split 25/75 between the upstairs room and the main ballroom. Great selection of music in both rooms with a fine selection of KILLER all-nighter sounds spun by the DJs to an appreciative crowd who were begging for the up-tempo and raw 60's funkier edged sounds ! Refreshing to the ears Keith Money, Mick H and Andy Dyson were bang on with the sounds the crowd wanted. Mark Freeman's oldies were well chosen and different and went down well. Jumpin Joan and Dean Anderson were two sets that stood out upstairs before we left just around 4.30 am as we were driving home. fabulous venue, great crowd (Nice to see John Kingan & Julie again) and well run by the promoters! see you next time.

Bury Town Hall room 2 (Kenwood Suite) Lineup and Times - 30th July

Firstly a massive thank you to all of you who popped your head into the Kenwood Suite in May - the room was bouncing pretty much all night and you made it everything we hoped it would be

For July we've got a real treat in terms of guests with Joan Livesey, Phil Thelfrall and Mr Dean Anderson joining us, DJ times are as follows (we've slightly extended the rooms opening hours to allow Phil to come out of Joans shadow lol):

10:00 - 10:55 - Paul Johnson
10:55 : 11:50 - Joan Livesey
11:50 : 12:45 - Bob Hinsley
12:45 : 01:40 - Robbo
01:40 : 02:35 - Phil Thelfrall
02:35 : 03 30 - Lenny Dopson
03:30 : 04:25 - Dean Anderson
04:25 : 05:20 - Simon Ingham

Hope to see you all there again - and more; all are welcome, our aim is to be an inclusive room not exclusive in any way- you'll hear a great mix of great quality tunes including current faves, the underplayed, underrated, and the just sooooo good we had to give it a spin.

Roll on July 30th

Simon. In my humble opinion it was the best room on the opening night :hatsoff2: but then again I left before you graced the decks :P No seriously it was fantastic. . Be great to see you as always my friend.

NCS KENWOOD SUITE PROTEST HITS HEADLINES

It has come to our attention that there were scenes of chaos outside Bury Town Hall, at the first NCS allnighter in May,  as crowds hurried to exit during Lenny Dopsons spot. The defiant Mr Dopson claims that it was simply the result of a trapped wind incident and nothing to do with his mid-tempo "Lennys rare stuff" set.

Organisers are taking all necessary steps in an attempt to avoid repeats of this disturbance at the July event.

So the weekend is coming and all attention turns to the second installment of the resurgent Bury Town Hall All Nighter. A three room affair, which on its first outing hit the spot with the hundreds of soul folk who attended from all over the country.

The main room was glorious, with a stream of light shining onto a packed dancefloor at 7am when the last record was played (reminded me of the Casino). Many folks had been dancing to tune after glorious tune all night long (ask Matt Simpson). This Saturday, my ‘Sensational Soul’ App tells me, will be no different with the likes of Andy Dyson, Mick H, Keith Money, Mark Freeman, Calvin Lee Hughes, Dick Krop, Andy Garside, Nicola Anderson, Matt Sneath and Dominic Hodgkinson spinning the tunes.......Jeez, I just had to read that line up again, it’s soooo good

Upstairs in the Kenwood Suite, Simon Ingham’s boys (Robbo, Bob H, Lenny H, Paul J, and Simon) did themselves proud spinning an eclectic selection of tuneage, with guest of honour, Shifty pulling out all the stops to an appreciative crowd, Mint!  This month sees Simon and his team of soul stalwarts joined by Lancashire’s ‘Grumpy-est’ spinners, Jump'in Joan and Phil Threlfall and one of the scenes most respected DJ’s, Dean Anderson, NOT TO BE MISSED

Was that it? I hear you ask. No, was the answer, there was something else! ‘Something Else’ was exactly that, another dimension added to the Bury mix, a modern room with a difference. Cool Dudes, Funk Bunnies, Soul Shakers mixing with Nighter Divas in a melting pot of hot music, funky vibes, jazzy cuts, soulful house and retro grooves, played over a sound system that punched your chest but at the same time lovingly caressed your ears with aural delight. This Saturday will be no different, except in that original ‘Sarrfend’ Soul Boy, Gavin Page will be North West bound and joining (probably the tallest DJ team ever assembled in one room!) Freestylin DJ TeeCee, Blackpool main man and Soulful@Dance DJ, Pete Haigh, Jazz Funk Supremo Mark Grice and On Hubert Street resident Paul Hawkins, for a night of luscious free flowing modern soul vibes, willing you to stomp, shuffle, shout and sing from 10pm thru to 5am.

Join us, you just might enjoy it!

Must be quite a transformation for a Southerner to go through Len!

Does it happen once you hit the outer edges of Staffordshire? And do you have to pull over to find a telephone kiosk?

Yippee. No more sleeps. Clothes are polished and the shoes are ironed . Just chilling n waiting for guests to arrive  did I really say guests. I meant gets.  if I look like that I have lost the will to live when I get to bury later. Don't worry I will be ok just a little deaf from spending time with Dave and Ali in the confines of a house.
