I think I first met tonight's guest Martin Gavin at Friday Street or was it Goodfoot. Anyway his club Caledonia Soul which was held at the legendary Woodside Social Club in in the West End was one of the clubs which inspired me to set up soul nights in the suburbs. Martin along with Lenny Harkins and Keith Keddie were the resident DJs with Martin nominally in charge of the gig. We have some cold air and hot sounds at The Rum Shack and you can stand at the bar and dance on the floor. Martin actually supported Jimmy Smith whose Mojo Workin' album inspired the club's name. He has DJ'd at Goodfoot, Friday Street and at the 100 Club. along with gigs at the Glasgow Jazz Festival whom he persuaded to book the Bill Bush Combo. hope you can join us for an evening of fantastic music and some laughs.
Doors to the downstairs dancehall open at eight and we're on till 1 am.
We're looking for a £2 donation which will go to Starter Packs Glasgow. They work with local Housing Associations to help people set up new homes by providing some necessities.
