Following the brilliant ‘Mecca’ special in August and due to popular demand we have confirmed the services of Mr Colin Curtis to delve back into the annals of club soul history and remind us of a period, where the foundations of the scene, we know and love today, were laid. The Twisted Wheel had closed, and the doors of the Golden Torch opened, from there a new sound emerged, setting the scene alight with a new sound, the powerhouse soul music that was finding its way through from the ghettos of America to the turntables and dancefloors of the North of England and kindling the fire that would burn so strongly as the Northern Soul scene, for years to come.
Colin will be at Lowton to play the records and tell the story of those early years memories of the new discoveries coming through every week, the clubs, the people and the DJ’s like Tony Jebb who we will be recognising as a leading light on the night.
Join us on Friday October 14th for a night of Golden memories from the Torch with Colin Curtis
