This month we’re lucky to have another guest from across the pond, California’s own 'Killa Jo’ Ontiveros…….
"Killa Jo is a 2nd generation record collector and son of Joe Ontiveros, who in the early 90s was one of the fist to put out a series of rare sweet soul and doo wop ballad compilation cassettes under the moniker "Nite Owl Music" out of, Bassett California, a neighborhood just east of Los Angeles. Growing up in an environment filled by music and the appreciation of vinyl records, KillaJo himself began collecting everything from rare punk to jazz and classic country to 60s Jamaican rarities.
Through his appreciation for classic Jamaican music, KillaJo started Ashwut Zound Intl., the only Native American operated sound system in California. Record collecting has become a family thing as his daughter Bela is now a 3rd generation collector.
After decades of collecting vinyl of various genres, this is a unique opportunity to showcase some sweet soul music direct from Southern California where it has been embedded as part of the local culture for years."
