Scooterboy 272 Posted October 13, 2016 Hi Folks, It’ll soon be time for October’s Northern Line event on Saturday 22nd and I can’t believe that I haven’t even had chance to post September’s write up yet. That’s now two months in a row where work has really gotten in the way of keeping you abreast of events...I shall do my best to provide a better service in future. I have given myself a slap on the wrist. In September Jacko gave us a storming set, with classic after classic filling the floor from the start to the finish of his spot. It’s easy to see why he’s in such demand as a DJ across the North West and I’m chuffed to advise you that we’ve managed to snaffle his services for our 2017 December event...yup, we’re booked up for 2017 already! Between us Ben, Moz and myself managed to keep the floor moving before and after Jacko’s spot although numbers were a little down compared to normal due to a jam-packed soul calendar, a weekender and a ‘final’ night at one long-standing localish event. This month there are fewer distractions and no clashing weekenders, and on top of that our guest is a renowned and respected DJ with one of the best collections in the country – Mick H from Nottingham. Last time Mick DJ’d for us there was a stampede to get on the dance floor and it remained packed for the whole of his hour due to the top-notch rarities he spun. I followed Mick and I saw the records that he’d pulled out but didn’t have time to play...boy has this guy got the tunes! Moz, Ben and I will be holding the fort either side of Mick H’s spot and we’ll do our best to give you the finest mix of soul music possible from the rare to the not-so-rare. I know that we’re all still missing Biff and I for one am consciously trying to slip in a few records into my set that he would have played. John may not be here in person, but he’s far from forgotten. We know there are always competing demands on your time and your wallet, but if you want to hear a great selection of music then you’ll be made most welcome on Saturday 22nd October at The Northern Line.
