About The Event

DIVINE! (in conjunction with GLASGOW CITY MUSIC TOURS and WATERSTONES GLASGOW) presents:

*** DETROIT 67 Launch Party ***

Saturday 29th October (Spoken word event: 7.30pm / Club night: 10.00pm)

The Admiral Bar, 72 Waterloo Street, Glasgow G3

After the sensational "Young Soul Rebels" launch party, we're very excited to be doing it all over again for the expanded, revised, re-sleeved and re-launched "Detroit 67" - already nominated for Music Book Of The Year 2016.

This remarkable history focuses on twelve turbulent months in the Motor City covering soul music, street crime and social rebellion, which ripped the city apart in 1967. The author Stuart Cosgrove will be reading excerpts from the book, accompanied by an in-depth Q&A chaired by Alison Stroak (of Glasgow City Music Tours) followed by a book-signing session (courtesy of Waterstones Glasgow).

Then at 10pm, Divine kicks off with a Detroit Soul & Motor City Funk Special, with guest slots from Stuart and legendary collector Lenny Harkins - spinning a Detroit-centric selection of ultra-rare 45s and unreleased acetates, alongside Tamla Motown classics and obscurities.

We expect this event will sell out like the last one - the spoken word part is tickets-only and can be purchased for only £5 at Tickets Scotland: http://tickets-scotland.com/detr2

Please share with fans of northern soul, Tamla Motown, Detroit history and anyone who likes a combination of explosive literature and dynamite tunes!
