  1. I actually enjoyed the film i thought it was quite funny in bits. ie young lad appears with a trophy i have just won the dance competition yep fuck off soo funny. As for the drugs scene i remember my mate telling me somebody had died on the bus from bolton to wigan as he had used rain water when he was going to jack up speaks volumes.
  2. There was a radio show which Russ did in Manchester around the time the casino was closing. It was in Manchester it was that long ago I cannot remember what station it was but it was pot luck if i could get a signal on my small portable radio. I remember going past the casino when they were knocking it down and it was heartbreaking and thinking it could have been restored but on the saturday nights it was empty so they must have lost money or just made even with the monthly friday night oldies. I remember a girl I use to know lost a record in Mr M's as it went down the side of one of the seats and she couldn't get it out and when they were knocking it down she asked one of the work mates if they could get it the next day she went back and they said to her you can have it but it was full of used needles.
  3. Clifton Hall was a brilliant venue x x wish it was still going very happy memories xxxx
  4. Hi She is on facebook under Carolyn Roden x x
  5. I use to get Black Echoes every week and just read the last page for the northern bit. It was tough in them days if a nighter had been cancelled and it was too late to let people know as some of my mates found out when they went to Clifton Hall in Rotherham.
  6. I couldn't get to Bridlington due to personal reasons but I am so glad to hear we had some woman DJs. Congratulations you all deserve it. xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
  7. Bloody hell Mark I have got that record made my day x x
  8. The first time I ever went to Wigan I remember buying a coke put it down on a table and went to dance when I got back it had gone.
  9. name='Soul16' timestamp='1328473568' post='1699178'] I've been clearing out the loft today and I found an issue of Blues and Soul Magazine from October 1979 I guess a lot of you will have seen this feature before, but for those that haven't, I hope that you find it interesting! I've just realised how much I miss my Spencers Navy Blue CorduroysI I have always worn a circular skirt but I kept a pair of Spencers (from the 70s) my mate gave me when she split up with her boyfriend. They were always tooooo big for me and last week I tried them on to find they were too tight on me x x horrified was not the word. x x x
  10. My favourite record of all time x x wish they still played it. If anybody knows a venue that does please could you let me know.
  11. I remember hearing Sue Lynn Don't pity me on Coronation Street a while back with Deirdre and Ken sat in the Rovers.
  12. All the best dancers at the casino did dance at the front of the stage, maybe things did change near the end of the casino when it was empty on the saturday nights. If anybody disagrees they obviously never went.
