  1. This is very sad news indeed..My fondest memory of chris was when i was flogging about 400 45,s and he came round to my house for a gander. He bought the lot that i put in an old suitcase for him to take away in his jag with a pile of "Blues & Soul" mags. My regret was he offered to take me into Nottingham to meet Popcorn Wylie who was on at Hinckley which sadly i couldnt accept, a big regret now years later. When we met up at his gigs we had a laugh about the suitcase.Great lad & Jock that will be missed by this fellow Nottingam native... R.I.P. mate and condolences to his Family...God Bless
  2. yes very sad a true legend!..was playing his motown compilation from 2004 today...what a class act...R.I.P.
  3. Bruce isnt my cup of tea but i respect him as a top performer for what he does. in his defence he was a soul fan in his teens with his m8s and bought lots of 45,s and this album was conceived in lockdown as he wanted to do something totally different. It shows his respect for the music as he highlighted on the Graham Norton show a few weeks back. I always believed the first Soul Demo turned up in Nottingham..(Rob Smiths ?) and discovered by DJ Jonathon way before searling or winstanley, but who knows?
  4. so very sad to see the passing of this legend...RIP JOE... Grammy award-winning R&B singer Joe Simon has died aged 85, according to reports. The artist, who sang the 1972 hit Power of Love and was sampled by hip hop group OutKast, died on Monday in his hometown near Chicago, US music magazine Billboard said. Simon was known also for US R&B chart-topper The Chokin Kind in 1969 and 1971’s Drowning in the Sea of Love. His 1975 track Get Down, Get Down (Get on the Floor) Simon’s highest entry on the Billboard Hot 100 chart, peaking at number eight.
