  1. Since 1982 (yep 42 years) Kent has been leading the way for the independent Soul labels in the UK. Everything from Slow and Moody Black and Bluesy (if you know you know), from Sweet to Deep, Southern & Northern to Disco & Funk, 6ts and 7ts, unissued and previously issued and everything in-between and that still very much applies to today. For your listening pleasure is a selection of releases from 2024, 45s, Cds and box set. Some of them yet to be released but they can be pre-ordered so don't miss out, especially the forthcoming Shrine set. The quality 42 years later is still every bit as good as it was back then. Little Ann - Who Are you Trying To Fool Tobi Lark - Challenge My Love The Volcanos - Storm Warning Bobby Garrett - My Little Girl Tobi Lark - Sweep It Out Of The Shed The Isley Brothers - Take Me In Your Arms (Rock Me A Little While) Epsilons - Mad At The World Traci - Take It From Me The Soul Children - Standing In The Safety Zone Carolyn Crawford - Get Up And Move Sylvia & The Blue Jays - Put Me In The Mood Ty Karim - If I Can’t Stop You (I Can Slow You Down) Little Ann - The Smile On Your Face Tippie & The Wisemen - Wait Till I Get There Sidney Hall - I’m A Lover The Prophets - If I Had One Gold Piece Jimmy Armstrong - I Believe I’ll Live On Clyde McPhatter - Please Give Me One More Chance Eddie Holland - Leaving Here Melvin Davis - It’s No News Calvin Arnold - You Got To Live For Yourself Melvin Davis - Wedding Bells Jesse Davis - Night Bloomin’ Jasmin’ Joe Hinton - Shouldn’t I Be Given The Right To Be Wrong Carolyn Crawford - Sugar Boy Miss Louistine - Extra-Extra The Delfonics - Trying To Make A Fool Of Me Honey Cone - While You’re Out Looking For Sugar Philly Devotions - I Just Can’t Say Goodbye Joe Hinton - Depend On Me The O’Jays - Backstabbers Loleatta Holloway - Hit & Run Bettye Swann - This Old Heart of Mine (Is Weak For You) Lorraine Johnson - When Will I Stop Loving You?
  2. I am at work that day mate bit will try and ask for an early finish
  3. That’s what you get when you see something on line and simply repeat it. Oh it’s on the internet it must be true
  4. as an aside, The Imperial Wonders (no relation to the Four Wonders) Lord What is Happening To This World? that came out on Cordial just over a year ago is just superb (cd in 2005) It's had loads of hammer mate
  5. brand new will probably cost you a little more, might get a decent pair second hand. https://www.thedjshop.co.uk/dj-equipment/dj-turntables-and-usb-recording-turntables/direct-drive-turntables/reloop-rp-2000mk2-quartz-driven-direct-drive-dj-turntable.html
  6. Quote from 45 cat that Neil granger made…. I talked to Willie Weems on 10/11/20 who wrote the song and he confirms that Sam & Kitty were Leroy Dandridge & Kitty Grove, Edith Brown wasn't on this recording.
  7. I think the word “exotic” is all the clues you need to imagine what kind of act she is. Most clubs, just like in the UK had a variety of acts, strippers, dancers, comedians and of course the musical acts.
  8. Mine are in lock up at minute but will try and find it when I call there. Discogs has Kitty as an alias for Edith brown who recorded on 4 Brothers but that is wrong if the comments on 45cat are anything to go by. maybe the kitty talk should be a separate topic?
  9. Two veterans of the scene Guy Hennigan and Andy Tats Taylor join Dean inn the studio for two hours of banter and a bit of music. Dean Anderson presents The Sound Of Soul™ 18th April 2024
  10. I would imagine she is an exotic dancer…..or stripper in these parts lol and not our singer
  11. I’d agree the Mala release is West Coast but still doesn’t sound like Morris Chestnut to my ears. The lead does sound familiar though.
