  1. And where was Nancy Yahoo djing 20 years ago? Not a name I remember ever djing in Britain where it matters.
  2. I think the people who have been following him for the last twenty years will have seen his spot change depending upon which venue he's playing at. The 100 club crowd and the Europeans get a much diverse set of records from Butch. Here is a list of his lesser known Northern stuff, mainly from this period. 3. How come the Ruby Andrews press isnt such good quality. No master tapes available?
  4. First heard Butch play it in barcelona about 6 yrs ago. I know it's been played at the 100 Club for years. Sam got his recently and has been paying it at Spirit.
  5. The bootlegs, for some reason, are hard to find. As I remember, it was a Soussan bootleg.
  6. On John's latest auction offerings, Eddie Rey 'ive got something of value' True Soul, listed as an original; isn't that the bootleg? Original release has yellow background, with red banner and green text. Bootleg as I remember it: all light green label ?
  7. Actually a genuine record collector unlike many of the compilers on this thread. Your reference to ady and the hopkins bros: actually it wasn't sarcasm, it was astonishment. Now then, have you ever thought of buying the Prophet & his Disciples at the going rate and then using it for your project, rather than using someone elses complimentary copy? Radical proposal I know.
  8. You lot wan't be happy until you've released all the 45s that many collectors have paid good money for. And don't give me that bullshit about you're doing it for the artist etc.
  9. There is always someone on this forum who defies the general consensus of what is a great Northern Soul record. In the 7ts when this was getting hammered, I don't remember one person saying that they didn't like it (and that was a lot of people at the time) I could understand your stance if this was one of those overated r&b 45s that a very small group of fans seem to endorse.
  10. sam doesn't have the record, unless he has one of those dubious test pressings.
  11. I only know of one copy of this, except for those dubious test pressings ?
  12. willie mallory-you went back on what you said-lanor. As i remember, Gary R got it from tim ashibende and butch following one of their US trips, early 8ts.
  13. Like you Mick, I used to pick up the oddities, especially the small hole 45s; I have: frankie beverley-if thats what you wanted-gamble, frankie crocker-turbo, precisions-if this is love, florence devore-kiss me now, shelley fisher-dalya, keith curtiss-smoke.
  14. Re. Pat Smith; butch had a United acetate by pat smith that he used to spin at the 100 club in the early 9ts. I think it was called "time to think it over", and uptempo dancer with female backing. He said he bought it off tim ashibende, who found it at either billy kennedy or emanuel laskey's home. According to tim, it was supposed to have been considered for a Thelma release.
  15. We went to the Seligman store in Toledo in the early 8ts, looking for the Four Tracks on Mandingo. Didn't find anything!!
