  1. Wow seven years gone so soon, I'm going to miss this place its been the first venue in the diary every month, even holidays used to get booked round the dates Macc was on, not only has the music been right up our street (uptempo) with some different tunes thrown in not the same 500, a great dance floor to match with some great dancers gracing it over the years. Cant believe its the last one so let's go out with a bang, exactly what Ashley, Mopsey and Dean deserve after seven years of top notch Northern along with some cracking guest DJs gracing the decks. In those seven years Macc soul club has been responsible for me meeting new friends that are now very close friends of mine that I would have probley never have got to know without going to Macc, you know who you are . A big thank you to all the lovely staff that worked so hard behind the bar and a massive thank you to Ashley, Mopsey and Dean for the last seven years of a fantastic soul club
Our first time at Kingsway Hall and we will definitely be going back, uptempo tracks all night from all the DJ's kept the floor busy. Ron did a brilliant 90 minute set playing some monster tunes including one of my old favourites, Rat Race. Definitely a dancers venue just how a northern soul night should be uptempo dance tracks for dancers, well done Carl don't change it there's not enough venues playing uptempo all night, this was a how it used to be back in the day. Great music Great venue Great company and crowd.
  2. Ron, We are going to come over to Kingsway weather permitting, be good to see you spinning the black stuff, living for the weekend as the saying goes PS do I need my credit card
  3. Can you please tell me what the music policy is, ie oldies as advertised on the flyer, will there be any Disco or Modern ? Thanks in advance.
  4. Please check entry details with Wintergardens regarding covid, ie jab cert and a clear covid test, which is not mentioned on flyer before going.
  5. Thank you for the positive comments regarding the Grosvener Rooms getting back to what it's noted for up tempo dance tracks and the dancers hitting the floor, my find a night. I applaud the promoters and DJs for taking note to the comments and doing something about it, my original post did not fall on deaf ears, unfortunately I could not attend but will be at the next one after reading the latest posts. Long live the uptempo dance tracks, far to many venues play slow to midtempo in my area so I have to travel to get the music I like to dance to, the day I have to dance to the likes of House for Sale we be the day I hang my shoes up and stop going to northern soul gigs. KTF Keith.
  6. Shooter, Thanks for the Dj times for your next gig, unfortunately we are already out that night but will look forward to coming back in the near future. Keith.
  7. thanks Shooter.
  8. Can I suggest you take a look at the flyer on SS.
  9. Thanks for the reply Shooter and being honest about the night. I had heard plenty of people say The Grosvener Rooms play 100mph dance tunes all night, just what I was looking for, read the flyer on SS and couldn't wait for the 13th anniversary night (our first night at the Grosvener) well the rest is history. we will give it another go soon I just hope it was a one off.
  10. Totally agree if it is advertised as 100mph all night then that's what it should be as people travel miles to what they think is going to be a good night and then are disappointed when it's not as advertised.

  12. went to the last one as it was advertised as the same as this event is (100mph solid oldies all night long) started off OK but then 2hrs of modern, crossover people leaving before 12.00 very disappointed.
  13. Hi Len, one event thats on every month I some times go to, I won't mention where, is advertised as Norther soul and Motown (2 rooms one for each,) I normally stay in the Northern room all night but on this occasion a guest DJ came and played modern and crossover for a full hour even though the dance floor started to empty, eventually the room also started to empty but the music stayed the same for the full hour, it was only when the next DJ came on that the room started to fill up again. thank god there was the Motown room to go into or we would of gone home, point being that if it had been put on the flyers that crossover and modern would be played in the northern room we would of had a choice whether to go or find somewhere else to go. Keith KTF
  14. Just a thought as things start to unlock regarding the promotion of events, can all promoters advertise what they intend playing on the night, Northern, crossover, disco or modern this way people will not be disappointed if they go to what is advertised as Northern and an hour of crossover, or modern is played out as this seems to be happening a lot. At least people will know what to expect when planning to go to a gig, as you can probably gather Im a pure norther soul addict and hate all disco crossover and modern thats being played out at gigs advertised as Northern soul, maybe I should try and move on but unfortunately I can't, I'm beginning to hate listening to all the other stuff thats being played out as northern soul which is nothing like. Thanks, Keith
