  • A brief intro...
Ex jazz funk n soul boy moved from West London where I used to live, work and dj in 1986 to Dartmoor Devon to get away from the rat race. Always kept the finger on the pulse of the music always buying on trips back to London and on line from soul brother records. Came out of dj retirement in 2014 to help out the local pub for nothing, starting and continuing a jazz funk n soul night every Tuesday night to preach and convert the locals and Plymouth.

  1. Another great track by Jalen......... going along those lines check out "Love and flowers" (us 7) by Les Imprimes taken from the album "Reverie" from last August which is a great retro album. And another us 7 which is a funky version of "Beggin" by The Diasonics
  2. Last minute cancellation last week due to a singer (who couldn't sing too well!) being drafted in at the pub with little notice means we shift the belated Marlena Shaw session to this week. Next week is a private function so we return on March 2nd then hopefully for an un broken weekly run again. As always seven until close for those essential tunes. OK -- Out of the blue Just had a message from the management of the pub (Tuesday 13th) to say that they are going to try out some "different" things for the pub! and we would no longer be doing the music on a Saturday night including this coming Saturday. Did ask about any other slots in the future ie: re verting to a mid week slot like we used to do on a Tuesday night but it does not look good. So that looks like the end. Three hundred and seventy sessions and out! So thanks to the local "rent a crowd" for your support since 2021 when we got back in the pub and to those who made the journey from elsewhere in the southwest. It has been a musical education as you all know. Steve Mac
  3. Back with a tan and another blast of quality tunes to warm the ears with a tribute to the beautiful Marlena Shaw this week in the mix. Seven until close will get your dose of jazz, funk and soul in a big warm pub in the heart of Devon.

  12. Been a while ..............a night of Motown this week 7 until close+
  13. As we steam towards the end of the year still time to squeeze in a few more sessions of across the board tunes at the "burrator". Another musical education awaits from 7 until close playing out old n new tracks. Singles from 3tob, the monophonics (b side) and mukatsuku get an airing this week.
  14. Been pushing the LP for weeks. It has to be the album of the year........not a duff track! Just like back in the day in Blues and Soul how about an end of year poll for best album / single / group / male and female singers of the year etc
  15. Across the board trax played out as usual with some Kool and the Gang tunes in the mix in tribute to drummer George Brown. Seven (sometimes a bit earlier) until close will get you a dose of great music all free to the ears.
