  1. Constellation161, I’ve been thinking the same. Think smart, all to technical for me, sorry Is there a, ‘plug it in, switch it on, play via phone & listen’ transmitter?
  2. The Manchester event is also sold out, tickets £37.50 - £75.00.
  3. The Mrs & I frequent a couple of monthly ‘soul’ events where Norther, Motown and, as I call it, Pop Soul (wedding venue stuff) is played. The places are always well attended and I suppose the mix of tunes covers the masses. The Pop Soul sometimes fillls the floor with stiletto wearing dancers enjoying the music more than the Northern stuff. Why do we go? I’m more Northern, the wife more Motown and Pop Soul, so I suppose I’m ’Under Her (My) Thumb. And yeah you can tell the would be Strictly dancers.
  4. Being a Wigan lad I used algorithm’s when deciding whether to go to the Casino, Mr M’s or the Beachcomber after a bottle of Merrydown in the Bees Knees
  5. 18 - 35 hmmm won’t be many on here going then
  6. Thank you for the ‘link’ I had Covid at the time so couldn’t go. Some good stories and memories told.
  7. This is Wigan celebrating the Wigan Casino. Whether you now loath it, can’t stand it, hate it 100% along with RW it’s a celebration of Wigans history and culture. In a week or so RS along with other ‘soulies’ are members of a panel discussing these celebrations. If you don’t like it, don’t go. I’ll be going to the numerous events taking place in and around Wigan over the next couple of weeks, yeah, I’m from Wigan and I’m really pleased ‘Wigan’ are celebrating it.
  8. In a couple of weeks RS is on a ‘panel’ along with others; Paul Sadot, Tim Ashabende, Gary Rushbrook, Tim Brown, Ian Wills, talking about their Casino experiences. Probably not a thing to ask about the ‘rift’ between certain individuals then.
  9. Mark R……. “Deary me......what has it all come to? Egos and/or money it seems” Sad, isn’t it.
  10. Hated, adored but never ignored. On show in the Wigan Museum.
  11. until

Well that’s Newtown and the Weekender over. Tunes that were a distant memory and tunes that time forgot. Well done to all involved.
