  1. How have I missed this vocal delight. I remember running to the record bar at Loughborough Town hall niter in 87 and handing over a bluey for the Billy Sha Ray version of ‘I’m gone’; but this version by the Hesitations has blown me away; those harmonies
  2. until

? Damn, just seen no otd tickets for Saturday. Any chance of buying 2 weekender passes for tomorrow?? ?
  3. Last night at Wellingborough Embankment when Lenny played 'Stormy' - Diana Ross and the whole room was clapping along. What a finish and the end of an era.
  4. Another superb kings Hall Niter. We got there eventually about 1130 after waiting for TerryC in Corley service station car park for what seemed a lifetime . The atmosphere was fantastic, the sounds definitely hit the spot (2 ringing wet shirts to vouch for that), you cant beat walking in to an event and seeing the dancefloor packed, makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck. Cant wait for the next. Rob.
  5. Sorry Moldie, did'nt meet you as I spent most of the night trying to avoid you!! Now I have seen your pic and sussed who you are it turns out that we were not that far away as I stood next to the record bar beside the piano most of the night with that up and coming "superstar DJ" John McClure! I will ensure that I introduce myself the next time we are at the same venue. Catch you later mate, Rob.
  6. Had a corking night. Music great, the venue is superb and a great crowd (even the bar staff were up for the crack!) I will definitely be back for the next. Thanks, Rob.
  7. That is if you call snoring and suddenly waking when the dribble reaches your ear lobe 'lasting without any assistance' Only kidding fella! Hi Kev, excellent to see you once again and meet John Mcdade' (top fella). I see you are off to Heacham on Saturday, is a week long enough to lengthen your comedy repertoire? Really enjoyed last night/this morning, will Defo be back for the next. Rob P.
  8. Diana Ross - Love Hangover! Has me reaching for the medallion and the white suit every time. Pure new york smokey disco!!
  9. Just a couple more that have me shaking my Butt in an old kinda way: Roy Ayres - Running away Blackbyrds - Rock creek park and respect to mannys choice - Jean Carne - was that all it was! Top tune
  10. Jean Carne - 'Don't let it go to your head' Maze feat frankie Beverley - 'Joy and Pain' Whatnauts - 'Help is on the way' Skipworth and Turner - 'Thinking about your love' Temptations - 'The jones' ' just a few from disco heaven!
  11. Cheers Jem. I do not envy your role as a promoter, I much rather enjoy being the paying punter but do admire you all for doing it (without you all that I mentioned in my previous post we would'nt still be knackering ourselves out on a Friday/Saturday night, although with great pleasure! !) I Have been regularly to both the Diamonds and the Pemberton and have to say that I really enjoyed all. Really looking forward to the 11th May! See you there. Rob.
  12. I have`been watching the 2 threads for some time now and can honestly say that I have never heard anything like it before. I can't believe we have warring factions on the Northern soul scene and all in such a localised area. I would love to have made silks this past friday and have had an excitement about the event since seeing the first flyer, but due to circumstances beyond my control i could'nt, and now` I feel bad for it, following some of the comments regarding 'locals'. I have really enjoyed the local do's organised by all parties involved but this situation really needs sorting out or it will start turning people off. Len, good on you for keeping silks on, i am sure if rivalries can be sorted, it will be a huge success as was the Embankment (apart from the management). Please. Tony, Baz, Jem, Chrisseo and Steve, sort out your differences and make the Northamptonshire Northern scene a scene to be proud of. The following is not massive so lets all work together in keeping it ours!
  13. Diamond Geezer! ps, wont let slip the 'between these 4 walls' information from over the water (can't remember it to be honest, too much beer by that point!) Have a great time in Tenerife and see you at the next one. Rob.
  14. Hi Kev, I was going to make reference to the RE in my above post (battling to the dance floor, first in and last out etc) but held back. How bizarre that you posted shortly afterwards! Melba Moore, what a toon! Good to see you last night mate, what a do. Rob.
  15. The Precisions - If This is love (I'd rather be lonely) What an intro, pure magic.
