Just heard from Andy & Sharron [ Mona's Sis & Brother in law ] Mark was found in his bathroom by a visitor on Tuesday - He'd been dead approx 24hrs Post Mortem was natural causes [ some small blood clots from thrombosis may possibly have had an effect ] Was clean of anything un natural !!!! Funeral Feb 24th 10.30am at Brimmington cemetry No wake afterwards but something will probabaly be arranged in near future Mort

Just been reading the lookback for Brid. I am now really looking forward to Friday, to hear what Mort has in store for us Blimey, I might even not nip out forra smoke. mmmmmmmmmmmmmm Put me in a spot aint it ! I best make sure i live up to my Brid reputation lol Been a while since my last spot up @ Heywood Civic but it was always a venue where playing safe didnt come 1st so hopefully you'll enjoy the 45s. Got a couple of fresh sounds lined up + the Fontella Bass track i've been playing that most seem to enjoy & Nige Brown was raving over, added to the more known 60s to mid 70s dancers, should keep it tickin' over nicely ! Hi all just a quick reply & a few words of support for ECSC Firstly thanks to the lads for involving me in such a fantastic event, its given me & a few others a lift & shown that the ' scene ' still does have some mileage in it yet. In my opinion [ i'm a bit biased tho' lol ] the event was a huge success, everything went smoothly, the venue's great, the music was top notch, the DJs were 1st class [ told you im biased lol ], security were like old friends, sound system was faultless, even had the crack with St Johns ambulance who sat there listenening & watching all weeking, just in case someone keeled over ! Even got a snog from Karen Wigley too [ no tongues tho' ! ] Great crowd with a load from E Mids, Bentink, Annesley, Kirkby etc + nice to see Paula & sis & few from Derby area. All in all a huge success & i & a lot more cant wait till next yr. Thanks also to Nige Brown & Carms for the kind words above, taken as a huge compliment from 2 knowledgable guys on the scene. Sorry bout the late reply to the earlier posts re; Rockingham I've been really busy with buying a house, sorting stuff out, 2 days in Cumbria & having a think........... Well i thunked & i decided [ see Flyer or Whats on ] that next Rockingham [ Sat July 7th ] will be the last one ! Various reasons, one is obviously that if we dont get large enough support i cant pay people & the intention was always to book quality DJs & to pay them properly for their services. With other overheads too we need a minimum 75 thru door & with all the events etc going on, its not really feasable [ 1st Sat with 5/6 events in Derby Notts area alone ! ] Another reason is the commitment it takes from me, 2/3 hrs on Sat morning setting up + 5hrs Sat night + 2hrs on Sun morning = lot time & effort ! I never undertook any venture for the money [ it was always about the music & the buzz] & lately its got harder to justify the time / effort & money i'm putting in to Rockingham & so i decided to call it a day after next one in July I spoke withh Ally Mayer & Glynn Sissons & they're both up for a cracking final night as are Derek Greenhoff & myself, so hopefully we can go out on a high. With regard to last [ June ] Rockingham i have to say the the quality of music was awsome !!!!! I cant thank Mark Freeman & Hammy [ & Dave Wood ] enough, the sounds were just what i wanted Rockingham music policy to be about, not predictable, rarely heard, original, dancing 60s Soul ! Just hard to understand why only 45/50 odd people turn out ? [ maybe its because in the 6 months we've not or hardley played Right track, cause your mine, little bit hurt, champion, etc ?????? ] Anyway thanks again lads top sounds & we all enjoyed it Hope to see some of you for final night Mort
