  • A brief intro...
One of Resident djs at Scissett Mecca (WMC) Warm up spot 8 -9pm last Friday of month and Seaside Soul at The Floral Hall, Hornsea 8-9.30pm 1st Friday of month. I have done guest spots at  Bridlington Soul Club, Back Street Soul Club in Barnsley, Mexborough Athletic, (Atha Soul) and Montgomery Hall, Wath before soul nights finished there. Started out djing at local Youth Club 1967. Ran a mobile disco 1970 -72. Got back djing 2009. Can't claim to have ever been to Wigan Casino or any of the well known venues but I have liked all Soul Music since I was 13 and seen many live bands over the years including Booker T & the MGs, Stevie Wonder, Kim Weston and Edwin Starr to name a few. Supported by my wife/driver/manager Joyce who ferries me around to gigs as I am no longer able to drive.

  1. Think you need to check your event address details. Think you need to check your event address details.
  2. PLEASE NOTE. The DJ list and dates is not correct. There is NOT a Dayer on 10th September 2022. Also Guest DJ on 3rd June was Karen J Cooper not as advertised. December DJ is Jinksy from The Lakeside Soul Club at the Cask Inn.

A word of advice to anyone travelling to the Bridlington Weekender from West and South Yorkshire and anywhere south - avoid the M62 East bound as J37 Howden is closed and long tail backs of traffic most days. the same goes for anyone using the M18 which joins M62. Best route is via M1 to A64 York and through Stamford Bridge, usually only a short wait at the bridge then to Bridlington. Could be wasting valuable dancing time sat in a queue on M62.
  4. We enjoyed our night very much. A good first night I would think, attracted quite a few regulars on the soul scene. Good selection of music played by three hard working DJs, one of whom was also an excellent dancer. It was a bit cold but then temperature outside was only a couple of degrees above freezing... Heard people commenting about the bar prices but doubt that could be helped. It was a bit hard to find, drove past it twice but got there eventually. If you do another night there we would probably come again.
  5. Updated list of DJs is on Seaside Soul Facebook page..
  6. Guest DJ on 7th January is Paul Dawson from The Imperial, Filey.
  7. Looking forward to seeing everyone again and playing my selection of tunes. Come early, we open at 7, and hear some amazing tunes from Kai Rivers in the first hour and he is guaranteed to have you going home exhausted and buzzing after his closing set 11pm until midnight. That excellent DJ Steve Hutson is on from 9.30pm until 11pm so don't miss his set either. See you all there!
  8. Looking forward to our first night back at the Floral Hall in Hornsea since March 2020. It is going to be a good one.
  9. Keeping everything crossed that we will be back at Floral Hall after 18 months of waiting.
  10. I am interested to know how you have got round the ban on loud music in pubs and bars.
  11. Watching this post with interest. I am involved in running a venue but was under the impression that loud music and dancing were still not allowed under government guidelines. Every person on the Soul Scene is itching to get back on the dance floor or behind the decks but it looks like we have either been forgotten or classed as nightclubs.
  12. Thanks very much both of you for your imput. Mystery solved.
  13. That looks like being the one Trev Thomas. So it did exist. Did it never come out as an issue copy?
  14. Thanks for that. Same song but Timothy Wilson version is much faster than the one I am looking for which is slower and mellow.
