I have not been on Soulsource for some time so forgive me if this issue has been raised previously! Earlier in the year I logged many of the events I was interested in and was not overly surprised at the number of events that were on the same evenings, close to each other, playing the same sort of music and hoping for the same punters. WHAT DID surprise me was two of the established European weekenders happening on the same dates along with a relatively new weekender also on the same dates. These are Bilbao, Hamburg and Serena Soul. All three of these looking to attract the same people that love and follow the style of music they are playing. I know many who have travelled to these but expressed their disappointment at not being able to go to at least two of the three. Why is it that promoters seem to be incapable of talking to each other and coming to an arrangement where they dont clash! Over to you while I look for mi tin hat.

HI CHRIS, Thanks for the reply. Thought that would be the case. Know a lot of people who already go and they are all very complimentary about the event and in particular the quality of the hotel. Will have to see if i can get there as we are flying back from Tenerife on the friday -

Last months event was absolutely superb. A fantastic night of great music, dance and an atmosphere second to none. Many new faces in attendance that thoroughly enjoyed themselves. In all the time that Eggborough has been running as a soul night, last month would certainly fall into the top three best nights ever. Have to say the place was packed and that is a saying i normally hate using. Some great dj's on this month so if you have not been for a while or just thinking of visiting, get yourself down for a warm welcome and a great night of soul!. ROY

Less than two week now to the New Years Eve celebration of welcoming in the new year dancing to great music with good friends at one of the best venues in Yorkshire. There are a few other events on the night that will charge you up to £12 entry to get in......BUT!!!!!!! This is one of the very few events on the night that is FREE entry and is so to say thanks to all for supporting the venue throughout the year. If you have not yet got the tickets then ring Julie, on the phone number above. This night has proved to be one of the best over the last few years so do not miss out, oh and did I forget to mention there are some great dj's playing on the night. -

HI ALL, Just wanted to ask does anyone know of any book publications that give a fairly definitive history of the Motown company and its artists or other record companies like Philadelphia. Really looking for content including the artists and a basic discography. Got a few Christmas presents to buy so hopefully some bookworms on here can help me out. Thanks Roy

Not been to Bish for ages as it normally clashes with another soul event I support. However now it is on a week later than usual it looks like the car will be heading for York tonight. Looking forward to chatting with friends old and new. ROY

This event never fails to deliver the best Sunday soul experience in the north of England. Expect all the usual sounds from the Central heydays from late sixties through to early eighties. With the guest of the day Mr Kev Roberts there sure is going to be a lot of everything for everybody so if you are at a loose end on Sunday then get yourselves down to the Leeds Central Soul Club. -

Thanks Rick. Really looking forward to NYE as hopefully will be off the crutches and walking (hobbling) about under my own steam. Should be a great night again with every one in the festive spirit.

Really looking forward to New Years Eve at Eggborough. Last months event was probably the best or at least in the top three of the year in both the music on offer and attendance. Again there is some great dj,s on in the main room and also in the soul room. The atmosphere last NYE was brilliant with every one who came just up for a good time and in party mode. This year looks to be no different with much more of the same so bring your party hats and dancing shoes and have a great night. Entry is FREE but by ticket only so for those who are still a little undecided, give Rick or Julie a ring to get your tickets for the night. Don't leave it too late as last count there was only some thirty or so tickets left. regards ROY
