Back in UK for few weeks having spent the last few weeks in Languedoc - Catalan France.


Had a few beers in the sun with the organisers and seems the planning for a 2010 weekender is now on the way and they would really appreciate any indication (without commitment) on likely numbers , so please contact Paul and Raphi on collioure_bee@yahoo.com & [email=""]'dr_braces@hotmail.com'[/email].

At the moment one of the 2010 May Bank Holiday weekends looks favourite - that warm Med sun will just kick in nicely without being over powering....plus all those cheap, direct Ryanair , Bmibaby , Flybe flights . (Midweek Ryanair flights tend to be foc + tax at that time of the year !!).

Tracy and i are both interested in this weekender as we couldnt get across before, please let us know dates etc. will also get intouch with John n, Carol as they showed interest in this event also.
Also could try to get a few of the YSC crowd across and make for a really enjoyable do. Please keep us posted.

Had an absolutely fantastic time when I went in Aug 2007 (which I think was the first one!) Never managed it last year and not sure whether will make next year's either due to other commitments! A fantastic part of the world to have a weekender and it was great to spend a day with Andy & Denise in Port Argele (I think I've spelt that wrong...sorry Andy haha!)...the weather that day was superb!! If anyone is trying this weekender for the first time you certainly won't be disappointed

we remember it all too well ha ha, wasn't it fun !... beautiful and relatively undiscovered part of France - med chill , culture , fine wines , food , the coast is amazing - remember that bar @La Racou ? Even better there's a little open air jazz bar there to - stays open til' the last person leaves ...hope you can make 2010. As you say 2007 was fantastic , 2008 was even better , devastated 2009 didn't happen , so hopefully 2010 will out of this world....

Nice to see that people are interested in a new edition of a Perpignan Soul Weekender. We're currently checking out possible venues for the WE and we hope that we'll be able to find any confirmation soon for a nice place. Also some famous european dj's interested to come over, like Timmy from Brussels, or Sebastian Gerstung from Germany. I'm pretty sure that Albert Petit (from Valencia) would be very glad to come over aswell.

The climate in the Languedoc region is Mediterranean - It is the hottest region in France after Corsica. Perpignan is almost on the coast and sheltered by Pyrenees , so it is dry and hot during the summer. Sunny May & October are beautiful months to visit with temperatures in the mid 20's & blue skys.

For the culture vultures - Languedoc is the 'undiscovered' gem of the South of France, sometimes compared with Provence as it was in the 1950s. Collioure (15 min on the train from Perpignan) is where Matisse and Derain invented Fauvism, Picasso and Braque invented Cubism. The all niter venue last year was one of the best ever IMO... 350 locals and a little crew from the UK and Spain, lets hope we can add a few more from the UK for next year... A little clip on youtube of the Saturday all niter venue.. Maybe Andy can add the link..

A very very nice place to have a soul weekend..

Warning.. The local wine is just tooooooooo nice and less than £3 a bottle... If the sun don't get you then the wine will..

That's part of my plans! Yes of course, but ain't no cheap wine here in Brussels like in Perpignan!!! But more than 600 different beers to taste!!! Plus all the beers with a limited productions (rare stuffs!), that makes more than 8700 beers to taste...

Temperature much more closer to the british one also...

That's part of my plans! Yes of course, but ain't no cheap wine here in Brussels like in Perpignan!!! But more than 600 different beers to taste!!! Plus all the beers with a limited productions (rare stuffs!), that makes more than 8700 beers to taste...

Temperature much more closer to the british one also...

Sorry for this very late post. Still busy with my new situation here in Brussels, and unfortunately I haven't been able to secure any suitable venue which could be nice for a quality event and the numbers expected, so I sadly have to advise that there won't be any Perpignan 2010 Weekender. I hope I'll be able to organise something for 2011 in Perpignan, or move the event to brussels, but the problem is the same up here, very hard to find any quality venue... Will try anyway, let's keep the faith!!!

That's a shame Raph, couldn't you have got the same venues as last time, they seemed to work very well?

Raphi , gutted it ain't gonna happen this year - i know you've tried hard to make it happen , right up to posting .

Hopefully we'll have Perpignan (or Brussels) Soul Weekender 2011 to look forward to - lots wanting to make the trip from the uk (and i suspect from elsewhere ).

Well, about the same venues as last time it was not possible to get them this year, the price has gone up, and the conditions were sh**. Still looking for some venues near the coast, Argeles or Collioure would be cool. Will all let you know.

lets hope so , but avoid May - the weather's b freezin @mo (coldest on record for this time of year since 1960 )
