Having been a member of this site for some time now but never posted due to my shy retiring nature, the time has come to rectify this with a brief post to let you all know what myself ,family and friends experienced on saturday 13th august.
The setting for the wedding of Claire Kettley to Darren McCormick (lifelong soul fan and collector of all soul genres well known in the N/E) was the grounds of thier beautiful home in a small village in county Durham.

The service in front of some 90 close family and friends was backed by seven members of the London gospel choir giving soulfully moving renditions of "sounds of blackness:; going all the way, charlie wilson"s lets chill, and the hymns amazing grace, and oh happy day,(not a dry eye in the house).

Everybody then made thier way to the fantastic main marquee where drinks and the best wedding foods from around the world were served to people from around the worlld backed again by the choir singing Luthers so amazing, sounds of blackness i believe, your love keeps lifting me higher, stevie wonders ribbons in the sky, alicia keys and others which escape my hazy memory :g: but just to a add what a brilliant and lovely crowd they were who ifor one would travel and pay to see any day of the week.

The guests for the evening started to arrive for the evening unaware of what was about to unfold as was everybody including myself, even being the best man didnt get me any inside information :(

The happy couples first dance was rudley interupted by an elderly gentleman who i now know as britains got talent finalist Stephen hall (the old bloke who did the daft dancing) hillarious, no really! Next up was Alexander O'niel who had the place bouncing giving a well polished set that didnt let up for an hour, the guy is still top draw and seems to put a spell of ill health behind him  After another short break Darren introduced his next guest none other than Lisa Stansfield ,WOW believe me that girl can sing and her stage presence blew away anything ive seen for some time!three quaters of the way through her set she asked for Sabrina the lead from the gospel choir to join her on stage (if you see them on tv Sabrina has the red hair) they then sang Lisa's hit "someday"together, such tallent and emotion delivered in three minutes from two stars that put todays wannabees firmly in place,SHEER BRILLIANCE!!!!!!!!!!!Lisa thanked Darren and Claire and wished them every happiness for the future.hopefully this this will spur a return to public performnce after a 3year break :) ' The poor DJ for the night was as gobsmacked as the rest of us!chin up JINXY. Bearing in mind that nobody had any idea of what was going on the next anouncement from Darren had the now electrified crowd rushing to the dance floor "ladies and gentlemen it's britain's got tallent winners DIVERSITY",in this day and age of bad press for todays youth what we witnessed gave me for one the feeling that it's not all doom and gloom.the energy the passion the fun and the downright brilliance of the next twenty minutes can only be described as magical.David Cammeron needs to employ these kids as role models
