Having been a member of this site for some time now but never posted due to my shy retiring nature, the time has come to rectify this with a brief post to let you all know what myself ,family and friends experienced on saturday 13th august.
The setting for the wedding of Claire Kettley to Darren McCormick (lifelong soul fan and collector of all soul genres well known in the N/E) was the grounds of thier beautiful home in a small village in county Durham.
The service in front of some 90 close family and friends was backed by seven members of the London gospel choir giving soulfully moving renditions of "sounds of blackness:; going all the way, charlie wilson"s lets chill, and the hymns amazing grace, and oh happy day,(not a dry eye in the house).
Everybody then made thier way to the fantastic main marquee where drinks and the best wedding foods from around the world were served to people from around the worlld backed again by the choir singing Luthers so amazing, sounds of blackness i believe, your love keeps lifting me higher, stevie wonders ribbons in the sky, alicia keys and others which escape my hazy memory
The guests for the evening started to arrive for the evening unaware of what was about to unfold as was everybody including myself, even being the best man didnt get me any inside information
The happy couples first dance was rudley interupted by an elderly gentleman who i now know as britains got talent finalist Stephen hall (the old bloke who did the daft dancing) hillarious, no really! Next up was Alexander O'niel who had the place bouncing giving a well polished set that didnt let up for an hour, the guy is still top draw and seems to put a spell of ill health behind him
More to follow ...
