A very good night at the "Engineers" ... first time there even though it's not so far away ... good spots from the resident promoters Kev n' mark both with great record collections and not afraid to use them  ... as for the guests , Mick Cooper played a lovely and varied spot ... followed by Pat Wallace with again a super mix .. for me the mark of a good dj who will put a £700 record followed by a £10 tune ... showing that price never dictates how good a record is or how good a spot can be.. and all OV too  not a bad turnout with dancers on the floor most of the night no matter what the tempo or popularity of the music played ... good to see

it was an honour and privilege to play some tunes @ the derby engineers.
some excellent records spun by kev, mark and pat, a cliche yes but "Quality Soul" all the way.
i love the dance floor (i know some have made negative comments in the past but believe me, it's far better than some i've had the misfortune to dance upon).
netty and myself felt very much at home and at ease as the atmosphere at the derby engineers is very friendly and welcoming.
it wasn't packed but when over 90% of those who attend a venue show their love for the tunes on the floor then you know, it's quality and not width that really does count.
it's not difficult to fill a venue if one dilutes the soulful content and goes for 'handbaggers' (not my choice of words but oft used and understood) but these guys @ the engineers know that their 'no compromise' on soulful content will most certainly (and already does) make this a perfect home to rest one's soul on a friday night in the east mids.
thank you guys, loved it, and if i manage to get this old body some employment we will most certainly be over again to share the soul and the friendships.

First of all thanks to Tommo for starting the thread, it was good to see him back at the Engineers on Friday.

Thanks to everyone who turned up and made it a very enjoyable night, nice to see Pete and Sue too and thanks for the feedback.

A very big thank you to COOPS and PAT WALLACE for making the trip to Derby and playing two blinding sets.
Coops, first on, gave us an historic tour of some of the tunes played at the major clubs from the Wheel through Wigan to Stafford, a really entertaining set, I for one would really like to see him back at the Engineers, great guy.
Pat Wallace, next on, as usual played a great and varied set of quality northern soul that kept the dance floor busy, hope to see him back soon.

It is nice to get some positive feedback about the music we play at the club, we intend to continue!!

After a hard week it was nice to relax with people who were up for a good soulful night out. The four of us enjoyed the range of music with Mark and Kev pulling fine tune after fine tune out of their boxes. Coops was excellent! His trip through time added a new dimension to things. I spent Sunday searching through the loft for that Betty Swann track he played. As always last record in a pile in box no 41.
The venue is great and produces a real good atmosphere. Keep up the good work guys

Not our busiest night at Derby Engineers but a very enjoyable one.

Both the guest DJ's did quality spots, Coops with his trip around the clubs played a very interesting mix and brought back some great memories. Pat Wallace played a great mix of big rareties and classic oldies. Both of them kept the dancers happy and the floor was busy all night long.

Its nice to play to a crowd who appreciate and dance to across the board music. Thanks to everyone who came and supported us.

Hi Pat,

Sorry, Therese and I couldn't make it up to support you for this one.

Would of been good to hear Mark again we know he has some great tunes, also listen to Coops although might make it to Grantham Saturday.

Also catch up with old mate Tommo and the Notts Posse.

Sure you gave a good account of yourself and encouraged some good east midland folk to make the short jaunt down the M1 to J20 to see what we are all about at Sonic Soul.

See you Friday

Best Tom
